I just got home from church and as fucked up as it seems, the things jesus stood for is along the same lines of the old school hippies, obviously not in the drug ways but the peace and non material way of life aspect. Ok shoot me down....
Jesus killing his enemies: "He replied, 'I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given, but as for the one who has nothing, even what he has will be taken away. But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them--bring them here and kill them in front of me.' After Jesus had said this, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem. (From the NIV Bible, Luke 19:26-28)" nothing very old school hippy about that.!
We also read about Jesus bringing corruption and destruction to earth rather than peace: "Do not suppose that I [Jesus] have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. (Matthew 10:34)" or that?
Ive several old school hippie friends from the southern cali area from the 60`s and im told that even the org hippie days were not as non violent as some let it on to be. So one can take quotes from the bible and either be for or against my org post. But it seems clear some of both parallel each other, I guess its how you interpert them.
yes... but i was merely replying to your original statement about the 'peace and non material way of life aspect'.... Jesus did not always appear to stand for peace... with respect
actualy i wonder if the bible is just full of man made alterations and corruptions? its hard to know what is true and what is interpretation
Well old hippies like the Jesus-look that's for sure. However JC did some work in his life , so there they differ
that so?..... ever lived in a community?..... try it and then come back and say that hippies dont work..!
