some of the best new(ish) music out there is found under this genre name, yet i've failed in finding any definitive means of describing the music. quite a lot of different styles have been called trip hop (from things like dj shadow to portishead and sneaker pimps and all sorts of quite varied styles)

so i'd say i'm a definite fan, but the phrase "trip hop" itself is rather ambiguous. most people tend to only think of stuff like portishead and early sneaker pimps (becoming x, with the female vocalist) though

Can't tell you a good definition neither, but I like music like Portishead, Tosca and Red Snapper.

Remember the Sneaker Pimps' song "6 Underground" that was popular a while back? "Take me down six underground, the ground beneath your feet..." I got their album Becoming X, which got me into trip hop. If you like Portishead then check out Lamb - Fear of Fours, and Esthero - Breath From Another - two trip hop albums that I just love!

Portishead is absolutely great; and the first cd from Morcheeba; so relaxed. I don't know much else of this music sort, but I figured that the main idea of it is really great.
