I just can't get into female rockers the way I can with male rockers. Female rockers are too concerned with the fact that OHMYGODWE'REGIRLSSINGINGROCKNROLL! rather than just concentrating on the music. Everything they do is just a further assertion of their sexuality, and this limits the scope of the thoughts that can be expressed in their music. Girls, get over yourselves and just be human with the rest of us.
Having said that, my favorite female rocker is Yoko Ono, because she's totally fearless--a rare and commendable quality in any field.

    ewwwwwww yeah i agree.
but it used to be different with yoko ono, janis joplin, stevie nicks and grace slick. linda perry rocked too, and totally not in that whiningstefani way.
i dunno if we can put gillian welch under rock n roll too, but she is great!

I love the crystal clear voice of Anneke Van Giersbergen (The Gathering), when i'm stoned there's nothing better than the lazy sexy voice of Mazzy Star's Hope Sandoval and the most rocking voice belongs to Sass Jordan who sounds like a female version of Steve Marriott...she only made 2 good albums though.

Auf Der Maur is great, so is Linda Perry who made a brilliant solo-cd after 4Non Blondes broke up...haven't heard anything from her since "In Flight" besides the songs she wrote for Christina Aguilera and Pink.

ahh how could i forget Nashville pussy.. female guitar, female bass, male drummer, and male singer/guitarist.. unusual combo.. and theres a pair that dont give a damn.. they just straight rock out.

and as for the sephani-esque singing (in the horrorpops), i'm ok with it . i like that raw edge .
