storing weed and keeping potency

sooo, i am gonna buy an ounce which will last me several months. i want to be able to store it without it losing its potency. any suggestions???

 

bag the shit out of it and put it in a cool dry place, freezing it works and vacum sealing works great also

 

I heard it can get better with age. Like the chlorophyll breaks down thus making it not as harsh or something.

and then just take out small quantities at a time so you don't have to carry around a big glass jar full of bud

i would think so, cause when you have good bud its still sticky its has mosture to it shitty bud is like dirt that breaks up when you tuch it

I've accidentally left my bud in my metal stash box in my black car in the middle of a florida summer...wow does that suck...you can't notice the difference if you don't leave it long enough...like just for 1 night...but the times where I've left it for a week or whatever...I may as well had just smoked St. Augustine grass.

 

under certain conditions this is true, it's called curing, and it's done in a similar fashion as it can be done with tobacco. curing will lighten the color and change the flavor, and supposedly can cause it to become quite a bit more potent, though i've got no idea what happens chemically to make it stronger. if you're curing it, though, it needs to be in an airtight and dark location, and needs to be vented every so often. i believe it needs to be at least slightly on the fresh side, too. the key is a very slow drying process, as far as i understand it. obviously if done wrong it could result in molding, however.

anyway if you're getting an ounce and can make it last several months, you're a lucky guy. it would probably last me a month and a half at most, unless it was extremely high quality, then maybe two months if i'm lucky.

if you're concerned about keeping it without losing potency, you want to store it in an airtight container, preferably one made of glass, in a dark, cool location. unless it is very very dry i would not recommend subjecting it to below freezing temperatures, because it will break down the cell walls and make it mushy if it's got moisture in it. basically, what most of the other people have said. also, its a good idea to not carry it around with you. if it's slightly moist, open it up every three days to give it a breath of fresh air for a minute and take out enough to last until you want to open it again.

i've kept pot in a film canister for six months and have noticed no decrease in potency whatsoever. it will dry out though, but i certainly don't mind that.

 

ive got a mini fridge in my room, i stick it in a bag which is inside a tupperware inside my fridge.

glad is a company popular in the US for making things like plastic zipper baggies, plastic wrap, etc.

gladware containers are glad's cheap, "disposable" plastic version of containers such as rubbermaid and tupperware make. the plastic is heavy enough that it can be run through a dishwasher and reused, but still cheap enough that if it gets lost or ruined it can simply be thrown out or recycled, which makes them great for taking things in packed lunches and such.

 

so basically a tupperware container in the dark with the weed bagged several times.

seriously though, if you plan on storing for a long time, i'd personally be concerned with storing it in plastic, but thats just me. i don't really trust plastic so much....i'd suggest just getting a jar. they're not expensive.
