i dont want to go all that bad, but my friends really want me too, and theres always the parties afterwards... so i guess i'll go.

well, i want a dress. the last two years i have had the normal dress like everyone and their mom has had... sparkley, long-ish, blah blah blah....

well, this year.. i wanna have one of the dresses with the apron ties in the back... really long, so i can wear NO SHOES and not get in trouble, haha... my mom is going to be sewing this dress up, so difficulty is not an issue, cause my mom rocks at sewing! :)

well... i remember a thread i started once, stating that i thought i didnt look too great in apron tops... there was some sort of cut that was better for "bigger" people, like myself... well im not exactly big... just... i have a gut, ya know?

well, anyways, i think the cut was called an empire? an empire waist? i tried searching for that thread, but i couldnt find it, my computer is so lame.

so what IS an empire waist or cut, or whatever? am i correct? what sort of cut/style will make me look the thinnest? (if you havent noticed, im a tinge insecure about my weight....:& )

any other ideas for the dress would be appreciated also!

an empire waist is tight right below the breasts so the top falls straight from that point on. check supermommy's posts i think she has made some tops like this

I once went to prom wearing a big, puffy white skirt that I cut off of a wedding dress, a shiny black t-shirt, a leather jacket and tennis shoes. It was great. You have to be yourself. If you are concerned about your belly, try a dress with flowing sleeves or a cape over it (maybe sheer or lacey?), I think that would take attention away from your middle. :)

I agree, totally! And definitely be barefoot....maybe get a nice pedicure beforehand, pamper yourself...they don't cost much and feel *awesome*....flowers and loose curls would look good too. :D Maybe some glitter on your cheekies :D

wow, i was kinda dreading homecoming, but now i'm almost excited! almost.
and its all thanks to you AWESOME mamas! :)

Oooh Candyland sounds like a fun theme! You can get really creative with that, like have little lollipop dangly earrings or something. Is your mom going to use a pre-made pattern (like McCalls, Simplicity etc.) or is she going to make it up herself? I got a really awesome dress made for me out of a Butterick pattern last year, you might want to check those out.
