Ok, I know there have been a few threads like these, but bear with me!
I quit smoking TWO whole days ago! I find it's easier to ignore the cravings in work than at home, so I thought that maybe other quitters could do with a thread to vent/complain/scream and maybe it could be like a support system type thing...??
I have no nails left and keep going to the fridge! Luckily I got rid of all my smoking paraphernalia, so there's no temptation :)

So come on, if you're trying to quit smoking - post here :D

im trying to stop smoking weed for atleast 2 weeks. i know it wont work, but the fact that im putting a lot of my paycheck in the bank and going shopping right away may help. i need to lower my tolerance and get healthy again. i cant stop smoking squares though, i need them now.

    ^^rolls eyes...no 15 y/o needs to claim addiction...

to change a habit, you need a substitute. Go do something, put on music and dance, spend more time on HF, whatever.

two days is a nice start. YOU can keep it up.
If you stumble, start over. You are investing in the rest of your life and ridding yourself of an expensive and icky habit.

Congratulations Lazuli, and I hope you are successful. I think it's a great idea for a thread, there seems to be a pretty big number of people here who are trying to kick some habit or another so a place to commiserate seems reasonable.

And Becknudefck, was it necessary to drop the name of a specific brand? That strikes me as odd, coming from someone who isn't trying to brag... but good luck to you too.

i quit smoking too, 6 weeks ago. i thought it was going to be harder, but i guess i did really want to quit, as it hasnt been that hard...this time i used nicotine gum for the first couple of weeks, but i dont buy them anymore. Sometimes i feel a bit stressed and think about cigarretes but i instantly associate it to getting back to bad old habits so the craving goes away on its own.
I have noticed that I've got more of an appetite, and i guess i have put on some weight cos my jeans feel a bit tight, i should start doing exercise.

try the nicotine gum, it might help you with the cravings and the anxiety...its not as hard, its all in the mind you know.

Yes, it is all in the mind! :)

We will make it... I'm already proud of ourselves!
I never thought I would be so dependent on tobacco, but, you know what, any dependence is an illusion... and I seek for truth.
From this day on I will take care of myself! :)

Thanks Bedlam and Zeppelina! 6 weeks Zep? That's great :)
I've tried the gum and it burns my mouth, so I'm going cold-turkey. I too though it would be harder than it is, the past one hundred times I've tried to quit I've been climbing the walls and driving my husband crazy, so crazy that he'd make me buy some cigs!
But this time I am the model of calm, I am serenity itself! And if I keep telling myself that, I will get through it! My friend in work told me that I've been a nicer person these last few days... !

And yeah Ayesha, dependence is an illusion, and I've been deluding myself for 12 years!!
