for free! these things are a few hundred dollars new! (my boss didnt know any better, so hegave it to me, he he. ). this thing is a heavy, heavy gauge haystack cover- like sixty by 40 feet! im going to build a winter camp shelter with it. i had to get it home, because he was slowly realising that he could have sold it in the paper pretty easily. i have a thread in madcrappies personal sports forum, if you want to raed a few posts about the camp. i'm pumped!

That's awesome. I had to buy 4 tarps last week(all much smaller than yours) and they were expensive. Can't have too many tarps...:p

well, when the snow gets deeper, you can backfill against the wallsif theyre vertical - that helps. i think ill just haul a cheap woodstove in tho' and leave it there. :). we're going to make it semi permanent.

At coventy we brought a coal stove under our tarp to warm up. Then we felt the water dripping off the tarp was real warm, then we felt the tarp above the stove and it was getting pretty warm... alomst warm enough to start melting... so lesson learned, fire stays outside the tarp!

Thats a pretty huge trap though! Build something cool out of it!

Edit: oh yah, while it was under the tarp, we put the cover on it, then took it off and it was a ball of flames. But because we were all stoned and drunk, we covered it again, a little longer, and took it off and a BIGGER BALL OF FLAMES!!! Goddamn, we just weren't really thinking at all, under a tarp between threee very flamable tents, go common sense!

bender shelter.. well, my friends nicname is bender, so i guess it will be a bender shelter now and then. hey, we might even get drunk in it too.. but it'll be waaay up in the hills, so i guess we'll have to pack hard liquor (for the efficiency, of course).

nooo, i dont have enough gear, and too many responsibilities right now. maybe next summer though.. its pretty hardcore to stay up in the mountains all winter. especially in just a tarp shelter.
