I always wonder how people didnt used to have soap and lived???
And how ppl used to have oily hair and their hair didnt fall out???
BTW this is all assumed and unfounded.

I only wash my bum, underarms and feet with soap
coz i walk bare foot and i sweat a bit anbd bums dont need explaining.

    So, is not washing ok?
im not talking smell, im talking about what hygiene is...

The only thing soap does is remove oil from your skin, unless you are specifically using antibacterial soap (which I'm always against using). So I would say that not washing your body is fine, as long as you keep the cracks and crevices rubbed down so as not to create a breeding ground for bacteria and fungi.

I'm pretty sure you won't die at the age of 25, or get leprosy because you don't use soap.

oils protect to a point. Oil in hair will cause follicle blockage. We can expect to live to 75, roughly. Why not take care of our shell? It's not like we can move from it and stay on this plane.
Europeans (a dirty, nasty lot for centuries) thought bathing was reminescent of pagan rituals, so the church in all its wisdom banned it.
Cotures that do bathe were more spiritually and culturally advanced.
    Think about that.
Skin is the largest detox organ in the body. Keep the pores clear and you will have better health.
In Subsaharan Africa, tribes have used clay to clean the skin. Water isn't the only way to go, but SOMETHING must be done for clenliness.
If you never washed your plates, you wouldn't want to eat from them.

In Finland there is a sauna culture. This is their traditional cleaning ritual where you have a hut which you bring the temperature up inside so it is really hot. The sweat will then clean the pores and stuff. The sauna is also a tradition in a lot of the eastern european countries. Info can be found here.

Cleaning is good. but in my oppinion, today, people clean themselves often too much. I knew a guy, who showered three times a day, he had the most oily skin I have ever seen. I assume, that with all that washing, he washed away a lot of the skin's protective layer, causing the skin to produce even more of it.

Same with hair. My grandma washes her hair about every three weeks. She never has oily hair. People that wash their hair every other day get oily hair within a day. strange huh?

I do take showers about every second or third day, but I only use soap on the smelly parts....
