Hot Tuna Acoustic One of the most enduringly popular American bands, Hot Tuna has been performing and recording since the mid-1960s. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady formed the precursor to Hot Tuna while they were still in high school and founded the first incarnation of the band while they were both founding members of Jefferson Airplane. Hot Tuna has recorded 19 albums and CDs in addition to Jack and Jorma's solo albums. In recent years, they've welcomed the virtuoso mandolin, tenor banjo, and tenor guitar of the legendary Barry Mitterhoff, proving that after four decades Hot Tuna just gets better. They stop at Ripplefest for a rare Ohio performance on Saturday September 17th. Sam Bush Band Sam Bush has done as much as anyone since Bill Monroe to shape the destiny of the diminutive mandolin, adding new power and syncopation to its percussive chop and a new harmonic vocabulary that embraces rock, reggae, Afro-pop and jazz. His decades of popularity at eclectic music festivals like Telluride and MerleFest stem from the fact that he’s also a stage dervish, a rhythm doctor and a party animal, not to mention an enthusiastic storyteller and a gifted mimic. Indeed, Sam’s most recent CD as a bandleader, Ice Caps: Peaks of Telluride, captured the breadth and excitement of the Sam Bush Band in the live festival setting. Sam Bush and his band will take the stage on Saturday night at Fall Ripplefest. Kidz Jam Summer Ripplefest offers something for all ages with Kidz Jam. Kidz Jam is a children's activity center that helps provide entertainment and education at music festivals throughout the Eastern United States to our younger festival attendees. Started in 2003 at the first Ripplefest, Kidz Jam has branched out to offer its services to festivals across the region including Bonnaroo Music Festival in 2004.
