Wouldn't it make sense to have all the change counted by weight? Why when I go to the bank do I need to roll all my goddamn change? You should just be able to put it on a scale and make sure they're all real coins and not counterfits or rocks in the bag with the change.

a nickel should weigh 5 times as much as a penny
and a dime ten times and a quater 25 times

That way when you go to the bank, you just pour out all your change on a scale, and it will tell you how much is there.

But to go by weight, they would then have to all be the same metal so as to have the right values or somesuch like that. Fuck I don't know. Plus wear and shit could alter the weight, etc..

that would really suck in canada. we have $1 and $2 dollar coins after all

I vote colour coding all monies, so it's easy to sort and seperate

Well, the wear on indivual coins would be pretty small, barely noticable, but I guess when you add up a bunch of old coins you'd be getting short changed (get it? I know, I suck)

As for dollar and 2 dollar coins, well... thats why paper money was made in the first place. And anyway, its a lot easier to counterfit paper than metal. Then again, if I could counterfit anything, no one would expect fake change as long as it looked and weighed right... >=D

Err.. I'd imagine it'd be a hell of a lot easier to counterfeit metal than paper...

yup, especially with all the safety crap they have now. I do prefer the coins to $1 or $2 dollar bills... they get crumpled so easily, torn or damaged or lost. grr. and the twoonie has two different colours, it's fun money!

Go throw it in a fuckin fountain.

  12. well imagine a quarter weighing 25x a penny..... that's a lot in a real scale unless a penny suddenly becomes aluminum, and since pennies have to go everywhere and aluminum produces toxic fumes when it burns (granted at very high temperatures) it's just not practical

perhaps if a nikel weighed 5 times a penny, a dime weighed 1/10 a quarter and a quarter weighed (I don't know what happened I've sudden;y forgotten how to spell that) twice what a nickel did, then you could maintain the current coin sizes,

wear would affect it, but +- could be built in

    of course the problem

I go into a bank, have a lead tube and magnesium or aluminium or even plastic slugs filling out the tube to get the proper weithg, a coin on each end

I do that with 500 ten dollar rolls of quarters

I suddenly have real money and can repeat this scheme as many times as I want because I assume if I'm doing this I'm milling the pieces myself so as to achieve the most cheap and effective weights as possible

at the banks here they weigh it...so long as you have the different values in different bags they just chuck it on a machine and boing...thats how much there is!!

totally crossed my mind today when I was watching it that there must be a way to play it!!!

Seriously, why the hell is the white house being attacked by a swarm of 20s?! The new bills look so goofy...

Pockets full of change are fun because you can walk and dance and make a lot of noice, but it sucks when you sit down in the car and loose it all to the dark void between the seat and the door...

You wouldn't be able to put lead in your change bag, because the bank teller would pour it all out on a big scale and make sure its all legit. not sure about the 1/10th idea and those numbers though... its 1:42 in the morning for me and my brain isn't going to do math...
