when did that happen? me and all my broke-ass friends growing up were usually barefoot because shoes were expensive and for school. but you go to the bare it forum, and there's all these posts about the spectacular phenomena that's is being barefoot. i don't get it.
It's looked down upon by society, I actually got told not to go back to a gas station because I wasn't wearing shoes or shirt. There was no sign prohibiting it. What a bunch of shit. I don't see what the big deal is. I think the fat ass behind the counter was just jealous because I am way hotter than he is.
i was never sure why anyone made it such a big deal.. its just natural... trying to imagine cavewomen in stilletos....now that WOULD be a big deal.... perhaps some ppl have just discovered it and think theyve found something alternative?....
i was barefoot in my uppity downtown area with my friend, and people just couldnt stop staring. i dont really remember why i didnt have shoes on, though. good story eh?
Really, eh? I can't quite get the buzz that those folks seem to. I've kinda just grown up in a nature haven my whole life, so it never really mattered much... I love when people post in Bare It with posts that are all "OH MAN look how dirty my feet got today! Look how black they got!! DIRT!! TOES!!! I BAREFOOT MAN!! I BAREFOOT!" and they post a picture of the soles of their feet. Those threads just make me chuckle. It's very "Wtf."
kc, i think i'm in love with you just a little bit. LOL great question. i also don't understand. i mean, i like walking barefoot on the beach and stuff, and it's nice to take off your sandals and walk around barefoot in some nice grass.... but i don't get why it's so fabulous to go everywhere barefoot. rocks and sticks and pavement are harsh after awhile; it's nice to have a bit of shoesole between you and them. it the barefooting craze only a pointless way to rebel against shoe-wearing society? (don't mean any offense there, a genuine question!) yesterday i took off my sandals at the park and wandered around a bit in the grass because it was cool and nice. when i got home my feet were dusty and a bit dirty. i rinsed them under the bath faucet. i don't get the love of dirty feet, are we returning to our apeish roots? but even animals clean themselves! besides, i don't want to track dust all over the carpet. love,
i agree with what you're saying pansy. a story: i was talking to my mum the other day about how australia is so laid-back compared to home; going to the grocer you often see people in shorts and bare feet stopping in to pick up a few things - it's comfortable here. she responded, "oh yuck". i tried to figure out why she considered dusty bare feet to be 'yuck' but dusty shoes to be 'ok'. she didn't really have an answer, and i told her that there's no difference whether it's skin or sandal touching the floor. people often get stuck in such unreasonable thinking. still, in the barefooters forum it seems like they get a way bigger glory out of no-shoes than i can understand. lol
I have noticed that, and I always want to try walking into someplace with no pants just to see what they say.
to be honest it kind of disgusts me. and they sure as hell arent clean if they've been trekking all over town.
Believe me, if ya walk in wearing a long t-shirt....long enough to cover your butt and as long as ya don't bend over, then nobody says anything.
I have 2 that I can get away with...guess everyone thinks of them as some baggy old dress or something
well, now, i've been barefoot all over the place and never got two looks for it. i don't like shoes, either. they make my feet all hot and sweaty. i've never been told not to go somehwere because of my feet. i know a lot of places have a policy of wearing shoes because of lawsuit liability, and i'm find with that. clothing is a dress code and privately enforced. i just don't see why it matters when you're just out and about to take along a pair of slip-ons. no one looks at my feet, never have.
