Right on! Well said. My sainted father always said that a preacher was too lazy to plow, too dumb to teach, and too chicken to enlist. That the view from the redneck liberal section.

The closest reference I could find is Leviticus 15 .

In the old covenant, you were conscidered UNCLEAN and defiled yourself after you had a discharge from your privates, when you masturbate you get discharges, so it's obvious that masturbation was a no-no.

Though, the Old Testament is nailed to the cross.

If we didn't do it, wouldn't our "organs" swell up to an unhealthy size, and have some medical disadvantages?

If masterbation, oral sex or any time of sexual act with oneself or another, does not lead eventually to ejaculation inside the woman, it is considered an unnatural act and thus a sin. - This is according to the Catholic Church. Sex has to lead to an attempt at reproduction.

What the Catholic Church says, is not always what Christianity says.

I learned that the hard way...

Don't forget that at the time that Leviticus was written, sanitary conditions were quite horrendous and one wrong move could spell disaster for the community. Before you start quoting chapter and verse, you must understand what was going on at the time that the passage was being written. Otherwise, your message has no credibility!

The offense in question was that Oman refused to impregnate his dead brother's wife, not the act of withdrawal or masturbation itself. Also remember that in ancient times, it was considered reprehensible for one not to reproduce.

I totally agree! Unfortunately, the same fact applies to most churches who identify themselves as Christian. Churches of a fundamentalist bent are among the worst offenders!

I think you didn't quite pay attention to how I formulated it.

    See all the past tenses?

I was just stating the closest reference I could find in the Bible.

    No.
I know people who never masturbated, and they're quite healthy.

Your organs don't swell up, now where'd you get that from? :p

I'm not gonna get into too much stuff here, but if you don't masturbate, your body discharges it itself.

Yeah, it is nailed on the cross.
But nontheless, it's still selfish and lustful, and just plain disgusting.

lookit that...somebody trying to have an excuse for living in the flesh again. :p

Yeah, it feels good, but my flesh also says it feels good to sit on the coach and eat chips all day, but afterwards it doesn't feel good anymore because it got fat.
