on july 4th my troupe, the al ahsan dancers performed at a folk festival. we got some pretty neato pictures i can share with you all laurie and i dancing to a song called magdy's the whole group, a promo shot. there's me on the end laurie and i doing magdy's again laurie and i agaaaain doing a dance called balady mood, can ya spot me? berber dancing, a type of moroccan dance. i'm the one in yellow. looking like we're displaying our breasts to the audience. louise, shelly, sharon, and pauline performing a saudi arabian women's dance. the ladies flippin' their veils balancing our canes, i'm the yellow one again...
These pictures are amazing. You, of course, look immensely gorgeous yourself. Your beauty stands out from the other ladies, though, they too, look amazing.
I REALLY have to make a point of heading across the border to see you perform sometime soon. This might be my last summer in Seattle and I should check these things out before I move south. Will ya let me know when you're performing in late August/September? You look like you're having so much fun up there on stage. I see some dances and they look like they're doing a chore. You seem like you're completely into it. BTW, I found some more belly dancing related music if you're interested. From Turkey, Morocco, Egypt, and Lebanon. Not too bad, but you're probably a better judge of that than me.
The Balady Mood picture looks AWESOME You are a very beautiful woman! me love the outfits. I had to be a belly dancer in a school play onse..i was a rasin in a christmas pudding... for some reason that meant i had to dress like a belly dancer and jump behind a giant pudding bowl.. *shrug* ... ah i dunno i was in year 3 so i was only little.
those were fantastic. you're gorgeous. i remember seeing the pictures with you and your father under the tent (at some festival i take it). i thought those were great. goodness. now these !! how long was your set up there? it looks like you birds changed outfits several times. that musta been one helluva show =). how did you get into that "group"... you seem to be the youngest there. they probably love the hell outta you. looks like things are happy, so that's amazing. thanks for sharing, looking forward to more =) peace love ethan
i started taking classes with the leaders of the group (the ladies in the orange and yellow skirts) and after about 6 months they asked me to be a part of their group. i was honoured so of course i said yes and i've been performing frequently with them ever since. they really are great, i'm the youngest by far so it's like having a ton of really cool moms. the silver ones you see there are simply made from sequins and plastic piettes (sp) which are just thin silver discs, mind you we had to hand make them so it took FOREVER, but they're "relatively" light. we'll be doing a multicultural festival in one weekend in august, i don't know the exact date but i'll get back to you on that one. then september 1st and 5th i think.. don't quote me on that, we're doing a greek festival. as the dates near remind me to give you exact details, i'm kind of unclear thus far. thank you so much for your wonderful comments guys, it's so good to finally feel at home doing something, and be appreciated for it at the same time
oh yeah and the show we did was approx. 45 minutes, i had 2 costume changes and was in 7 choreographed dances. there was 11 in total. it was a blast!
as a drummer, those pictures mean a lot to me,we do alot of drummin for the belly dancers here in boise,it soothes the soul, you get lost in a trance like state, very nice, thank you.Luvin ya,..............rainbow doobie
You're looking beautiful as always...you look so happy up there, it's great to see you with a smile on your face!
sadly we did no hokey pokey, it's too north american for our tastes. we stuck to mostly middle eastern/moroccan/saudi type dances. i'll bring it up with them next time though and bri, i would love to hear that bellydance music you've found, i quite enjoyed the joy of bellydancing that you sent me, i groove to it all the time when i'm at a loss for things to do. thanks for your wonderful compliments my lovelies, it's always a joy sharing memories with you. here's one more, my best friend/photographer (she took all the pictures on stage) and i shortly after the show.
"sadly we did no hokey pokey, it's too north american for our tastes." Gasp! I resemble that remark!!
i think psyche's got the most dazzling smile i've ever seen. love the costumes and pictures. gives my romantic heart something to sigh over, and my perverted brain something to play with.
allll for you, kc. i still must see about getting a copy of a video to you, i'm sure there's been a few taken. i'll just have to pay attention to the people with camcorders next time and hunt them down after the show.
