I am 45 years old women, suffering from Bipolar disorder from last two years. My family doctor has prescribed me ‘Depakote’. Depression has also started periodically. Just after getting prescribed by the Doctor I started taking Depakote 500mg per day but I didn’t found any relief. Could anyone help me to know ‘how long does Depakote usually take to show the effect’? I'm confused as what to do now, whether to go back on the Depakote or to stop the medication. I'm really scared and desperately need some advice/help at this point.

    Please help me.

how long have you been taking it?

it takes about two weeks to start working and a month or two until full effects are noticed.

also make SURE you have your liver function monitored if you stay on it.

i take it but i am thinking about getting off of it..... too many side effects for me.
