Addiction to video games

Now, I know that this is really not men's issues, but I remember the time when I was in high school... completely addicted to computer games. Mainly- Age of Empires II : Age of Kings. And I was completely into destroying, conquering and winning the game... sometimes the game would go on for 8-9 hours and I would just keep on playing with other people online and i notice now that it only affects guys alot. why? . Some of the new games I have noticed have scantly dressed women as side characters. And this I know is - or could be one of the reasons why young kids fall prey to these things- they might be attracted to these characters but isn't it destroying our youth nowadays? the game makers are just invoking very base instincts in guys and making money off of it.

I still play Age of Empires II: The Conquerors expanison. Actually I just played it for a few hours than got off and on here.

yup... my mom, my cousin and I all play games much more than we really should. My mom's poison is Eve, my cousin likes WoW at hte moment, and I'm into the sims 2 and civ 3 (was playing guild wars earlier, but it's kinda the same thing over and over and over again, so I've stopped playing for a while)

 

I've been working with some 18-20year olds lately, and they all name video games as their only hobby..and one told me he sometimes plays 16 hours a day..

They all look kind of goth/punk, but when they talk they sound like they work at a computer store,...seems a generational shift has occured...I like them, but they do need to get out more.

 

I do 72 hour binges every once in awhile....

hah - a guy i know, we used to be friends and camped and went to the ski hill and shit, but he got into the Battlefield games online, and now the guy is useless. he cant do anything else but play BF. It destroyed his relationship with his last girlfriend, so he did the most natural thing he could do.. and thats buy a second computer and get his new gf hooked on vids! I dont even bother with him any more.

what, if a guy dies gaming in a relativly short binge and has a lesser ladder rank then well the majority of ladder'd players then, hell that's stupid


now if he had died after a week of gaming and had the number one ladder rank, he would be a fucking god....

but he's not....

 

I live with three guys and they play video games all the time It's annyoing!

i love the video games but luckilly my addiction is kept in check by my inferior computer and lack of financial resources

Acutally, I'm in remission right now. After years of MMORPG's I decided to start investing my time in RL. At least until the next gaming revolution comes along. It just seems like it's all been done before; sure the graphics keep getting sexier (and I love my big pretty graphics) but the games are just the same old shiat.

 

games are all a con don't get me wrong i have nearly all the computer consoles out there coz i luv em but the starting prices for them are ridiculous £279 3 years down the line £99 games are just the same it is all media hype.

anyway i am not an addict any more but during my school day the ps2 abducted me Tekken Metal Gear solid tomb raider... but i still play AOE 3 baby

 

Yeah I wasted a whole summer when I was.....17? to playing Lineage 2, its an MMO. As to why....well its fun to see your character grow and get stronger. But the only value games have are what you put into it, so I don't know why...

 

When I was in Jr. High,(Now known as "Middle School") I once played a Pirate game called "Tunnel Chase". You would pilot a ship through a (1983) 3d tunnel without hitting the sides. Speed increased per level. It was joystick controlled.
Now, I play golden-tee golf all day.

 

I use to be addicted to asherons call, it was quite a ride, and sadly i think i might of still been playing if the developers hadent botched running the game so badly
i have some WoW addicted friends, and it is really becomeing a chore to include them in social interaction as we always end up waiitng for them to finish something, or are blown off because of a raid. Or maybe we are just not exciting friends

 

I invested about .. 70 days of playing time into world of warcraft over the course of Last November through last summer and september.. just that one game.

Now I play counterstrike source a lot, and battlefield 2.

 

I play games way too much and I probably shouldnt since Im 21, Like mmorpgs fairyland for instance. I have people on there ask me how old I am and I'd say 21 and they'd tell me Im too old to play games, but there are like 40 yr olds playing WoW.
