Ok, so i just bought the sims 2... everything i hoped it would be... except it doesnt work too well... now my new computer is a Pentium 4 3.0 GHz far superior to my P3 799 MHz, however it runs better on the P3 because obviously on the P4 the 3d card isnt working. Now the P4 is suppose to have a 3D card and i may possibly need to update the drivers, porblem is 1) i dont know how to check what 3D card i have and 2) i dont really know how to update the drivers... Any help would be appreciated!
Check out Everest Home Edition from this page http://www.lavalys.com/ It will tell you just about everything you need to know about your system, including your graphics card and drivers. It's pretty easy to use, so you shouldn't have much trouble figuring it out. To update a driver, you'll need to retrieve it from the device maker's website. Most of them have a support area on their site that contains driver files. If you need help in finding a driver look at these sites: http://www.driverguide.com/ or http://www.windrivers.com or http://www.driverzone.com/ or http://www.drivershq.com/ or perhaps http://www.mrdriver.com/.
Xac: Go to Control Panel, then open up System, and then open up the Device Manager (you may have to go to a Hardware tab first). Then, click the little + sign by "Display Adapters," and whatever is under that is what your card should be. If there is a little yellow exlaimation mark next to it, that means that the device isn't functioning right (probably because drivers are not installed).
if your using a card that has shared memory.. meaning that the card is on the motherboard and not stand alone.. that could be the problem.. always better going with a stand alone ATI or Nvidia.. whatever you posion.. if it is already a stand alone card.. then check the drivers and if they are installed.. if your still having a problem.. do updates.. and then if your still having a problem.. then i could be something wrong with the card itself
