You hear about people getting plastered who then reveal their "gay" side to others.

Is it all about revealing the unconscious that is denied in a human being for all instances like this?

Or do you believe there are instances where alcohol just disrupts the mind to do crazy and unexplainable things with sexuality?

Personally, I feel alcohol brings out inner urges, EVEN if it doesn't necessarily define an individual's sexuality. If a guy or girl ever had one curious or silly thought of associating themselves with the same sex sexually, then through intoxication it will be carelessly exposed.
Like I said, it doesn't have to be every time they're drunk. Could just be one occassion or something. Even when you're drunk you have a conscience. It's just carelessly expressed and used.

I think that for at least some people, drunk is just an excuse.

I suspect that's it in almost all cases.

alcohol lowers inhibitions, so i guess it starts there...

i know of a girl who never contemplated having sex with another girl. Now, add some wine, marijuana and lesbian porn to the equation and she's asking for it. an innocent question that led to something more.

i think the influence of media has a great part in the way certain things about homosexuality are perceived today, for instance, girls kissing is portrayed as something sexy, but not so much boys kissing. I attribute that to the interest of patriarchial society, which is more tolerant of girls kissing girls because its arousing for a great number of males than looking at two boys kissing, which is completely frowned upon by society by not fitting into the hegemonic masculinity ideal.

anyway, the point i'm trying to make here is that i think some groups in society are more open to homosexuality for a number of factors, but perhaps the existance of repressed unconscious desires come out with certain types of stimuli, but that should be developed at a more psychological level i think.

We can't really measure ourselves while intoxicated, simply because we are acting in ways that are true selves. It mishapes our truths and realities.

A person simply knows weither or not they are straight or not, before they get messed up or when they are sober.

Don't ever fully take to heart what others do or say while under the influence

and also, people will go through a phase of questioning their sexuaility.

But a true test would be to ask the person if they remeber what they did or said. or to see if they still are turned on by the opposite sex.

i think it's inaccurate to say that one or other state is the "true self" of someone. i think it's more accurate to say that in different situations people act differently. there may or may not be a "core" personality.

i've been drunk and found myself kissing guys before... even tho i'm gay. i honestly think alcohol in the most part just makes people horny and experimental. they may or may not want the same thing when sober.
