these are some collages i'm working on for my art in technology class... just thought i'd share. the topics were, your gender in society, your culture in society, and self-portrait (without a photograph of yourself) i was having loads of trouble resizing these so hopefully they come out okay... if not i reallllly apologize because i wont be able to fix them since i have to go to work. please feel free to give lots of comments and suggestions!
they look really good baby, i personally like your personal portrait the best about the first one though, are you gonna leave those spaces there where its jsut the pink background or are you gonna keep flling it in?
first of all, thanks everybody i would like some suggestions if anybody has any... does everybody get what i'm saying in these?... well let me explain and hopefully this is what i'm portraying. in the first, i was trying to make fun of women in the media, and women in general caught up in looks and trying to be "beautiful" and just looking rediculous a lot of the time.... i was thinking of getting rid of beyonce since she doesn't really rediculous, just done up... in the second one it's sort of a two part thing... my focus was to show how the us is viewed in foreign countries. in the top george bush looks like he's performing a magic trick making a bald eagle fly over iraq, or perhaps like a priest trying to excorcise somebody. then we have mcdonalds which is a bad influence and represents imperialism and americanization of the world... then we have the twin towers, which is the backlash of ppl who don't agree with our way of life, and then we have barbie... the epitomy of us ideals and superificiality of hollywood, and her "dream house" is of course, the best country in the world: the usa. the third is a self portrait and i tried to make a cute montage, telling the story of my life like in a picture book.... the little book represents this ideal as well as tying in the colors of the rest of the picture and being a spiritual picture to represent my spirituality. the beach is one in hawaii that i used to go to a LOT... the black and white barren wasteland is west texas (where i am now... and that's pretty much how i feel about it) the sign is because i'm vegetarian, and i became veg here in texas, the home of ranches and beef and bbq restaurants... then there's the sky and the sun which are items off of my bed (my comforter and pillow i sewed myself ) and the maple tree represents canada, which is where i plan to be in the future... it's a lot about place... because i love to travel and have lived in a few very different places.
