I like the Sex Pistols but I've heard better songs by the Ramones, the sex pistols are more of a novelty band, they are the craziest and angriest band, they burned out. The Ramones are a different Punk style, more the American style. The Ramones are very much a Rock 'n' Roll band.

 

I find all these "my taste is better than your taste" debates quite tasteless.

 

They are, everyone has different tastes in music, it would be very boring if everyone had the same tastes, that would be tasteless.

1. Elvis-- the start of R'n'R or at least he was credited for it
2. The Beatles—the first new wave—the British invasion
3. Bob Dylan turns electric—1966 world tour—shocked the music world! Dylan what can I say, a poet-genius –first time lyrics were looked upon as poetry
4. The Ramones—the second new wave—Punk Rock—it was their attitude--single handedly killed disco
5. Nirvana –the third wave--killed all the lame big hair pretty boy bands with their stripped down no glam approach to music and appearence

ramones gotta have it, they are great, i dont listen to punk much anymore, but my freinds mom was telling me bout the oringal punk scene and why it came out, casue at the time the ramones where playing , zepplin and disco ruled the airwaves, some folks got pissed bout it and started doing there own thing

and as far as who started punk i suggest u read "please kill me a oral history of punk rock" it has interveiws nothing but interveiws, for me on who started it iam gonna go nwith the mc5 or iggy pop and the stooges
