i'm sure 'best album' has been an award handed out since the dawn of the time that people cared...

    Nominations:
Oasis - Don't Believe The Truth
    Coldplay - X&Y
James Blunt - Back To Bedlam
    Kaiser Chiefs - Employment
    Goldfrapp - Supernature

considering the other nominations It was almost impossible not to win that award though
Goldfrapp made a good album but she's not half as popular as Oasis and Coldplay... Coldplay's album was a dissapointment and even the fans seem to realise that.
Kaiser Chiefs are popular (read overrated) but luckily they miss the loyal fanbase that Oasis has.
I haven't heard James Blunt's album so i can't comment on that, but if the hit-single "Beautiful" is an indication for the rest of the songs it's not too good either :p

    bah........

if there was a band that deserved it, it was the white stripes for "satan get behind us"

but yeah, big fuckin deal....... how many times do you feel the need to post about it?? like I said before, a lame magazine that feels the need to print a best album of the year doesnt mean anything in my eyes.

this was the first thread and still the only one about it.
The Q Awards are a huge music awards ceremony, that Oasis and many, many other bands and musicians were present at. do some research on it before making yourself out to be a closed-minded, knowledgeless fool.

The White Stripes werent on there i imagine because they're not British.. all the other bands are.

    here here. :)

wrong, you metioned this before in another thread.

go blow it out of your ass. all award ceremonies are fake. if you dont see that, then you are naive as fuck. the grammies is a huge ceremony too, and do you see me going out and running to get a certain album because the grammies says its the best album of the year ??? no. Id rather decide for myself if the album is good enough or not....... I would rather not have some award show tell me what is good and what is not. how manipulative are you?

also, the q awards is based on the magazine, is it not??? its like the rolling stone holding an award show..... thats why I said it was a fuckin lame ass magazine. read. and maybe you should do some research before you make yourself look closed-minded. what do you think the Q awards comes from, mr smartiepants?? they just wanted to use a letter from the alphabet to name their award show, right?? dumbass.

no crap. oasis didnt really have much competition in the british field this year.... american music right now is just kicking the UK out of the water, I think there is more talent out there now for the US..... still, I say the white stripes have a better album than oasis. Ive heard their album, and from what I hear, its nothing to really write home about.

yes but I didnt make multiple threads about the same topic.

wooptee-doo. i prove you wrong and what do you do? you said that the Q Awards were just something printed in a magazine.. and theyre not.

not nearly as much as you are a closed-minded prick

anybody who knows current music will agree that curently the US is kicking the UK's ass, but that doesnt mean that oasis are better than most of the US bands.

and when did you listen to their new album? sometime within the last 27 and a half hours?

    ...?

ok to be honest with you......... I read the thread as it was the Q magazine wrote up what the best album of the year was........ and IM sorry about that....... but still, its beside the point... the magazine holds those awards (and IM sure the magazine itself printed up that oasis's album won best album of 2005)..... and any award show is fake as all hell...... and why would anyone have the same opinion on an album because some award show and magazine tells them that it is so?? thats just dumb.....

and as far as being closed minded....... Im hardly that....... Ive got a broad range of tastes in music...... but IM a critic, and I may be a prick, but I can honestly say that oasis is far from being the best band out there.

I'm a critic as well, as you know... thats why I love Oasis. ;) and ive never not once ever said that Oasis are the best band to ever make music. best pop band around today yes, but thats as far as ill go.

and yes the choices for 'best album' were pretty damn bad but Don't Believe the Truth is a grand album and should win it anyway (assuming that for whatever award show, no independent bands get nominated).

and obviously awards shows are fake, but hey, oasis won best album. go oasis. :sunglasse :p
