this movie was pretty cool from what i remember i watched it last night high it was interesting and really colorful i got so into this movie i loved it i thought it was really good
it was okay, but it was bland right off the bat. whats up with brits? from what i've seen, its hard for them to mack on chix. i thought Jay Leno was joking when he said european guys were gay. i know its not true, but a lot of times i've seen a dude trying to be over-gentlemanly, queer basically. guess its just the culture. i just thought it was dumb of that dude not to go with the chick, all worried and shit. the puppets were supremely bad azz though, very realistic in appearance. gotta give jim henson studios props there. it was hardly even funny when they tried. to tell you the truth, it was weird and not in an alluring way. i thought the dude would travel over a bunch of planets n such, but it was all too simple. good thing i didnt read the book.
I was not at all happy with the latest "movie" version of The Hitchhikers Guide.Hollywood just does not understand Brit humor at all and the cute version of Marvin the Android was terrible.Leave British humor to the Brits.I pray Hollywood doesn't next attempt any Monty Python after seeing this piece of trash! If you want to see a decent film version of Hitchhikers Guide, get the 6-part BBC mini series that ran on PBS and is available now on DVD. ~peace
i felt that the movie was excellent, easily one of my top 3 for the year. The books were better ofcourse but I felt that this movie was far superior to the BBC tv series. As for the BBC tv series: The acting in that was terrible (except for zaphod and ford who were mediocre at best) Trillian was the worst, her voice, her look, her acting phew... The movie used great effects and really brought the essential "space" element into creation. BBC only had small views inside of the ship rooms. Douglas Adams is the man! One Love
I loved the books, erad them about a dozen tiems, haven't seen it yet, was afraid it would be disapointing, maybe I'll go check it out now though!
I'm usually a skeptic on this sort of thing, nor am I really into sci-fi either, find it weird, but I loved this movie. From start to finish I thought it was the funniest thing ever. Anything in which the bad guys are bureaucrats is just too priceless. For a political geek this was just too precious. I love this movie. The old bbc series and radio shows are wonderful too though.
If you watch the movie again, the TV version of Marvin is standing in line in the Vogon "waiting room" when they are going to spring Trillian from prison.
I'm an old-time fan of the books (first read em when i was eight), and I was pleasantly surprised by the film. It wasn't as good as the book (few movies are, with the exception of one flew over the cuckoo's nest and LOTR), but remained remarkably true to Adam's origional story. I liked the casting of Alan Rickman as the robot, he just has the perfect voice, and Mos Def playing Ford was okay. The slow pace/manic quality of the movie was kindof annoying, but i'd give it three stars overall.
quite bluntly, i hated it. i only got through the first 30 minutes of it and i think i walked out and got food and then smoked a blunt and went to sleep. that's how bad it was.
