i've decided that i'm going to go to japan. and stay for a bit to see if it's as great as i imagine it to be. I'll be leaving sometime in the next few weeks and staying for somewhere between 2 and possibly up to 6 weeks...maybe more if things go spectacularly... does anyone fancy joining me? i know the chances of finding someone are slim...but i figured it was worth a try. i'll still be going if no-one wants to join me, and so any advice or insider knowledge would be much appreciated...muchly muchly appreciated.
if you do go Josie have a chat with me as I lived there for 5 years ... and why Japan and how do you plan to survive there?
Josie i warn you (as im sure you may already know) Japan is an incredily expencive place to go. Apples cos amout a pound (acording to my mum) also a flight to Japan is £500 and that takes you to Tokio, all inernal flights are just as or even more expencie. When my mum lived in Kumomoto the internal flight alone was an extra £500. So babe have a WONDERFUL time because it appears to be an amazing place which i wish i had taken the opotunity to go to when i had the chance but however, please be careful and make sur eyou have plenty of cash look at me i feel like ur mum *hugs* Fleassy xox
Japan isn't an incredibly expensive place .. apples may well cost a pound but the other food is cheap ... it is a case of when in Rome do as the romans do. If you want to live and eat exactly as you do here then it will cost .. but why would you bother going in the first place if that was your intention. On a whole Japan is cheaper than the UK and by far cheaper than London. Keep away from Tokyo as there are far better places to be. Internal flights are cheaper than the rail fares and you can often get return specials for 50 to 100 poundsno problems. As you will be going into Japan as a visitor you can get a 3 month really really good value train pass to take you anywhere anytime. The Japanese are one of the kindest people I have come across and hitchiking over there is the easiest place for hitchiking. Not only do they pick you up but they invaribly feed you along the way, ply yyou with beer and drop you off outside the front door of your destination. beer 50 to 70 pence a pintish Food and beer ... nomihodai/tabehodai ... drink all and eat all you want for two to three hours will set you back about 15quid. and so on Josie ... go for it laddie you'll have the time of your life.
wow...japan sounds great have a fabulous time josie...keep us informed on your adventures and take lots of photos... hahahahahahahhaaa! maon you crack me up
wow...everyone loves japan at the moment... I'd love to some along, but I can't even afford a Cadbury's Snowflake from the corner shop right now, never mind a flight to Japan But I hope you have a wonderful time! The Japanese seem like a crazy nation. Watch out for Morning Mesume (j-pop group of about 13 girls), they are hilarious! Keep in touch, I want to hear all about it, and as Luchi said...take loads of photos! But take care!!! Rosie x
right...to answer all your questions Ellie, on my 21st i got given £1762 out of a savings bond i've had for the last 10 or so years, which was very useful...i've found a flight for £562 return. And from what i've seen accomodation is quite cheap as long as you don't expect anything amazing. Apparently Gaijin houses are cheap. They range from 40 000 yen a month to 100 000 yen a month. which is roughly between 200 and 500 pounds. After that i'd just need food and such. And i'm fully planning on eating japanese the whole trip. Whats the point of going to a foreign country and demanding english food? I fully expect to be living on noodles and beer Giles, i was already planning on speaking to you about it. I figured you would be a great help to me since you've lived there for years and i haven't...we'll speak soon... Fleassy, i've done some research and looked through websites about how to live in japan on a budget. It even tells you where you can get good cheap clothes from. I'll be sure to be careful, especially if i'm on my own. But i figure the best way i can get out of the rut i'm feeling drawn into is to throw myself in at the deep end somewhere and teach myself to swim so to speak (i actually could do with learning to swim). someone once said, you only feel proud by doing incredibly difficult things and surviving them. I figure if i can do this and come back i'll be fine with a lot of things. Like giles says in a minute, you can get train passes that get you everywhere pretty cheaply. I think you can get tourist train passes too...so i'll be sorted i'm going to make sure i always have enough money to get around in case things go horribly wrong... Meng, yeah...that's exactly what i want to do. Go to a strange country with a strange person who doesn't like me. I could just stay at home and save myself the trouble Mercy, i will of course be looking out for any kind of J-pop since it kicks ass. It's one of the reasons i want to go. The music just appeals to me so much. That and the just general look of the place... and pachinko of course...
So... a. You're not actually skint Mr Scammer boy!! b. who talked you into this? *ahem Giles* c. What about Beautiful Days d. Good Luck!!!!
a)i am skint...i'm putting my research together so that i can pitch the idea to my dad who will decide to give me the money or not... b)no-one talked me into it...i've wanted to go to japan for a long long time c)i should be back for it...but if i'm not you can give the ticket to someone else...you paid for most of it anyway d)thankyou
never mind...my parents have said i'm not allowed to use that money...so i won't be able to go until i get a job and save it up...so i'll just go next year instead...
Hey man go next year then ill be able to come...i got the thing in the bank (ime not allowed it till I am 21 but ive already been allowed nearly £200 out for my practise studio/shed) Ill come next year, definately man, sounds amazing....ide come with u this time if you were still going, and i got the permission from parents (they dont even want me goin to faslane alone) keep he idea in mind though dude...
CALIFORNIA??? Oh man, Claire, I'm so jealous!!!!! I've always wanted to go to California, it is one of my biggest dreams....Maybe one day... God, I hate money....well, I hate the lack of money... Sorry you can't go this year Josie, but fingers crossed for next year! It'll be easier to find people to go next year too
wouldnt life be easier if we all used nuts instead of money, then we could have a nut plant and not have to worry, you could also eat them if you liked. jaz
