for those of you that dont know the corb lund band, i can guarantee that you will like him. go get the albums in order though, dont start with the new one. More old time countryish, story songs.

his old band the Smalls deserved to be famous too, but alas, they never made it.

    the smalls were lame

Yeah, how did I miss this thread though. Corby is awesome. nothing like a good ol alberta boy playing some true blue coubtry.

I dunno, each album sort has somethign different. For example, as you said "Hair in My Eyes" is mainly old timin/gold rush style with simple lyrics, that sometimes get repetitive, but also has some real winners with Little Foothills Heaven, Rodeo's Over and my personal favorite Truth Comes Out.

I can't say much for Unfogiving Mistress, as i havent had that album yet, but i probobly will get it cause it is fairly decent. 5 Dollar Bill sounds like it is the most commericially acceptable with Roughest Neck around and 5 Dollar Bill.

Modern Pain is very blues based and you can really hear his punk sound coming through on this one. I really like it, but i guess it sort of depends on what kind of musical tastes you prefer to which album you should get.

That being said, most of his albums have many "story songs" on them. Oh yeah, and i am going to go see him perform at an Agricultural Centre this saturday afternoon, woo :D

as Ian Tyson [who is basically Corbs predecessor] said "this guy is the real deal"

    "the smalls were lame "

aww you hurt me with that, burby :). it must be your age that makes you say that shit.

Im glad to finally get a response to this thread tho, corb is the real deal for sure.

i was going to go see him at the ok corral on the 9th here in town, but bloody hell im going to be out of town - and im broke anyway... grrr.

my favorite songs are 'case of the wine soaked preacher', and 'we used to ride em down' - but really, its all good. I havent heard the newest album yet.

the newst album, i think, is the best ive heard...[i listened to allof unforgiving mistress on his site and disnt care much for it]

wel, also the smalls comment is based soely on the "doo doo diddle" song or whatever it is called... I really like Case of the Wine Soaked Preacher as well..also La Souffrance des Gens, Lament for Lester Cousins--well basically all the first album along with "Apocalyptic Modified Blues" [5$ Bill], "Mora (Blackberry)"[Unforgiving Mistress]

yeah, i can't wait to see him. He was in edmonton not too long ago, and i missed it, and now he is doing a fundraiser in Radway so that is goign to be awesome [i am going to the afternoon show that was added]
