I am going to see Arlo on November 2nd in UCLA's Royce Hall. I have 2nd row seats. I have seen him twice. Both shows were just a wealth of mirth, music and a refreshing reminder of the old hippie idealism.
Arlo should run for President. I think he would be great. He would easily be the most intelligent man in the office since Clinton, and the most creative since Jefferson (or, at least, Franklin Roosevelt). He seems to have a solid, down-to-earth understanding of the way people are supposed to treat one another, a great sense of harmony, a sophisticated but kind-hearted sense of humor and a desparately-needed grasp of reality. And he could sing his state-of-the-union addresses. Maybe Art Garfunkel could be his running mate, you know, for the harmony. If elected, he could appoint Joni Mitchell to be his Secretary of State, Bob Dylan to be his Secretary of Defense, Willie Nelson could head the FDA and the Department of the Interior, and The Reverend Al Green could be the Ambassador to the United Nations. Tom Robbins would be the most interesting Press Secretary we've ever had. Peace and Love
