i know that sometimes weed is used to treat depression and usually i'm a pretty happy person but lately i've been really really depressed and i've been smoking a lot of weed and i was wondering if smoking weed often could lead to depression. i'm just close to tears all the time and everything seems to be falling apart, the stuff falling apart is because of the weed, it's just coincidence but it makes me even more depressed, i just feel horrible and nothing is helping

ur using weed as an emotional crutch. if i have a bad day, i dont smoke. i didnt smoke an entire weekend cause a friend of mine was going through a lot of shit and i wanted to keep things simple and not use weed as a crutch. take a break. clear your head.

the way ur going is the path to emotional addiction to weed.

you kind of missed the point dude....... i didn't say i was using weed because i had a bad day..... not at all. i don't smoke when i've had a bad day, i'm usually not in the mood if i've had a bad day, but I'm usually always fucking happy and i'm fine, i smoke weed every day when i'm happy and i was just asking if maybe smoking too much weed was the reason i feel kind of depressed lately. Let me rephrase this, my question is:

does using to much weed lead to depression?

yeah, u wanna give it a rest. i find that it's not that fun smoking if i'm in a bad mood, it just makes me feel worse. just take a break and try to get back on the track and let ur body clean itself out. i found that if i smoked a lot in a row i would start feeling a little down.

Weed tends to amplify whatever emotions you may be experiencing, or have lingering under the surface. Sometimes it makes you aware of things in your life that are things you should deal with. I have been in certain states of mind where it was better I didn't smoke much or at all, and dealt with the issues at hand with a sober mind. Which is much easier said than done I know. I just told myself I would smoke again when my state of mind permits. Hope you feel peace, joy, and contentment soon. Just don't forget you are definitely not alone in those feelings.

Sometimes, lately, I've been getting the same thing. Like, I'll be having an alright day (like some of you, I don't smoke if I have a bad day...a personal rule, plus I usually don't feel like it anyways), then when I smoke I'll start having some negetive thoughts, about how worthless I am, what a waste of life this all is, etc. One night I was thinking about suicide. Not really contemplating it but really imagining what it'd be like. Fortunately I also considered the reactions of others, which would be terrible, which helped me realize I am loved...so that time wasn't too depressing, since I was able to shake it off. Other times though, it's not so good. It's been happening more lately, and I've also been smoking more. Of course, I also tend to get depressed when fall comes, I think I might have seasonal depression. It's hard to say what's causing what, life is so complex.

The way I see it, either way you should look at the issues you're dealing with that are making you depressed, and try to address them. Whether you come to these issues stoned or sober, that's the way to go. However, marijuana does, for some, seem to cause depression, so maybe you could cut back while you figure stuff out. That's what I'm doing. It helped me out of a longterm depression back when I first started, so it can work that way, but it might go the other way too. It's just a tool, and can be used and misused.

Yeah, pot effects everyon differently. I've been pretty depressed off and on lately. I dont know, maybe its coincidence of my smoking pot and my life, maybe its just my life, maybe its just the pot, maybe its something ddep within me getting brought out by the pot. Could be any all and none of those... I'm taking a little break right now as a little experiment to see how things work out.

I quit smoking weed b/c it made me horribly sad. I haven't smoked in 4years, and I feel alot better. I can deal with stuff better. before I would fall apart over anything and evrything. Now I can handle anything. Also my grades in school were really low b/c I smoked pot all the time. Some ppl can smoke weed and learn...I can't.

I don't think weed makes me depressed...it makes me think...

And when I think, I learn, I learn about things and see just depressing things around me...it makes me more aware that I feel depressed already...

The sad thing is, it's not because I'm not seeing reality properly anymore...it's because with weed...I DO see the world properly, and the world is depressing...it just makes me wonder how people waste their lives so unhappily...etc etc...

I've noticed that weed enhances things that i'm feeling at the time. I haven't smoked for a few weeks or drank or anything so i cant be more sober than now, and been feeling much clear headed. but i'm a bit sad today i know if i smoke weed tonight i'll feel indiferent about my sadness but tomorrow i'll be twice as sad as today. thats how it works for me.
