Does anyone have a deviantART account? If so, I have a question.. whenever I want to upload a new piece of art do I really need to go through all of that stuff and fill it all out? It seems such a hassle..I'm new to it, and just curious as it seems so much to go through for one piece
As far as I can tell & from my experience one does indeed have to go through the pre-upload classification process and not just load files onto their database. I think it's intended to make the site browse friendly, that is if, for example, someone wants to see weather photos one needn't waste time sifting through thousands of other types of art to do so. If you browse the site you have options via the dropdown menus to look through specific classifications of submissions.
