What happen to the hippie spirit?

Why doesn't anyone offer welcomes to new comers in the introduction forum? Is everyone becoming a yuppie already?

cerriwyn(sp?) and I are the only ones to say hi to well over half the new posters out there in the last couple days.

It's pretty sad when a burned-out old-outlaw and a sarcastic canadian are the polite ones.

How about an effort to make new people feel welcome? We all know we could use some new blood around here. We'er a community, not a clique!
Or are we?

 

I try to say hello as much as possible. I didn't feel very welcome when I first arrived here. But that's ok, I'm happy now.

You cannot make a person feel welcome just by saying: "Welcome to the forums!" It takes much more than that, a personal communication on intimate level. If there is a joy, we share it, if there is a problem, we dig into that person's problem and find a solution. Both things can be done only when the post "resonate" with what you are going through now.

 

i can dig that to a certain extent. when i originally came to these forums, i skipped right past the introduction forum, in fact, i don't even think i noticed it. have never really visited it.

 

i just joined this forum a few days ago... but my guess is that these forums are just to vast to check out everything. most people probably just check out the topics that interest them and don't explore around to much. i'm actually surprised i ended up on this thread... so i'm just going to take this moment to welcome everybody!!!

 

I make it a point to try to welcome anyone I see in the introduction place. I just haven't been here in almost two weeks. So.. if you've got less than two weeks in, welcome! Sorry I missed you!

 

It's not a power trip.

It's not about "making" someone feel anything.

It's about being open, accepting, and friendly- the hippie way, is it not?
