I'm a very dedicated guitarist to both of these genres. I play stuff like Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, and all that. For those of you who don't you what Neo-classical guitar is, it's stuff like Yngwie Malmsteen, Michael Angelo Batio and stuff like that. It's is basically alot like older classical, but more focused on using the electric guitar as an amazingly fast lead instrument.

Are there any other guitarists out there into this stuff? I mean I know lots of people lie and say they can play it to try and sound "amazing"... but is there anyone else here besides me who is SERIOUSLY into these styles of guitar?

By the way, I play both Acoustic and Electric. Acoustic for more Classical, fingerstyle stuff, and electric for more lead guitar stuff. I love chromatic scales, especially descending. I love using sweep arpeggios alot as well. If you know the scales well enough, then linking together 6-string sweep arpeggios and other little scale fragments can make some of the most beautiful sounding leads possible in my opinion. I'm also a big Power Metal fan at heartm so I play alot of that type of stuff as far as Rhythm guitar goes. As you've probably already guessed... I LOVE harmonic intervals, or double guitar harmonizing, whatever you want to call it.

Is there a problem here? o_0

There are tons of guitarists out there nowadays who play neo-classical style, or at least have influence from it. I don't see why it's so hard to believe that I play guitar. o_0

Either way, I don't see how someone "wouldn't be posting here" if they can play a certain style of guitar, that simply makes no sense at all. I didn't come here to "show off"... I just wanted to see if there was any others who played my style, because I like talking to guitarists who play the same stuff as me. I like getting and giving tips on playing techniques, and stuff like that. I think this all has something to do with you having some sort of inferiority complex and trying to make yourself feel better by insulting someone, get a life dude.

There is a style of guitar called "Fast?" Hmm... nobody ever informed me on that one.

Yeah, Michaelangelo Batio's style isn't Neo-classical, which is why his most famous song "Speed Kills" is literally covered in dozens of sweep arpeggios and 3rd notes.

I have a pal who is a classical guitarist. He occaisionally plays me a piece by Bach or Tchaikovsky. To me, it just doesn't sound right. The music wasn't written for the guitar and IMO doesn't really work bacause the harmonics etc of the guitar don't suit the music, and the guitar lacks the power and expression of the piano. This is also true with the recordings of Bach made by Segovia.

Myself, I think modern composers might as well lie down on the railway lines.
The music mostly has no content, and descends into 'art for art's sake'. I think electronic music is the future.

I really like Spanish guitar music. In Spain the guitar was the main instrument insead of piano like the rest of Europe. There is an amazing and huge repertoire of Spanish guitar music stretching from the present to way back. And so many great players on recordings. I also like renaissance lute music.

Are you serious? Certain Bach songs sound pretty shitty on piano! Why wouldn't you play his Luite suites on guitar? No offense, but maybe your friend is not playing it properly. Because to me, Bach on guitar is probably the most beautiful sound in music I've ever heard. I play his stuff constantly, kind of still stuck in the obsessive stage that I have been for the last 2 years lol. Sorry to be so rude, I just cant understand how someone would say that guitar lacks power and expression compared to a piano. Everyone has there own opinion of course, but wow I never even heard someone who didnt like this besides people who just dont care for Bach in general.
