Just like the most powerful nation on the planet should be able to scramble and organize a rescue and recovery operation instantly for one of the largest natural disasters that they knew was coming for a week (aka katrina)

James G, read through the Commissions papers to learn what really happened. I'm sick of conspiracys when the paper is right there for any kid with internet can read a pretty resonable report.

Or just read David Ray Griffin's book "The 9/11 Commission Report: Omissions and Distortions".

I havn't read it, but unless David Ray Griffin is God, he won't be able to tell you truthfully what happened. Aka - another conspiracy theorist. People can write books, articles, essays, papers, whatever the hell they want to, but nothing can be proven. At all. Which is why this has always been the most pointless debate.

couldn't disagree with you more actually. griffin doesn't have to prove anything. he simply asks questions and from the available evidence he can show that the official version is false. he offers no conspiracy theories b/c he doesn't know what happened. but we know enough to know bush et al are lying through their teeth. if the fact that your government could, without guilt or conscience, murder 3,000 of its own citizens as a pretext for launching wars of invasion abroad and a police state at home, then its action are something to be very concerned about, wouldn't you agree?

I think we agree on more than you think.
If you recall Operation Northwoods, then you'd know the government wouldn't have any trouble at all staging a terrorist attack. But nothing can be proven, and the more people try to come up with "conspiracy theorys", the more the public laughs in their faces.

Which is why when I see something named "9/11 Truth", I laugh. The title tries to imply something which is not possible. One could argue the words "9/11" and "truth" together form an oxymoron.

I'll have to read Griffin's book either way.

“if the fact that your government could, without guilt or conscience, murder 3,000 of its own citizens as a pretext for launching wars of invasion abroad and a police state at home, then its action are something to be very concerned about, wouldn't you agree?”

I agree if someone believed what you’re saying they should be concerned, but what I would ask is what in your opinion should they do then?

Concern is fine but it is ineffectual if not converted into action, so what action should these concerned people do?

How in your opinion are people to reform the US political system so that something like you claim could not happen?

Or do you believe the present political system should be replaced and if so by what?

(PS James If you have answered these questions since I last asked a couple of months ago please tell me where)

    **

This is the thing it is not so much the conspiracy theories that have grown up around 9/11 but what they seem to say about the US political system and scene.

This is a political subject it involves the people that have been elected (or appointed) leaders and how they acted.

Now there are many conspiracy theories some of, which are completely mad, and others that seem a lot more plausible. The thing that is interesting to me is what are they for and why are the people pushing them doing it for?

That should be the question, what is it for?

There are many Americans that are spending a lot of time reading and writing about conspiracy theories about 9/11. But where does that actually lead?

Think of all the time and energy spent reading and writing about the conspiracy theories about the Kennedy assassination, what did it change?

Do these people think they are changing things or is it just a case of those that are basically disenfranchised and don’t really now what to do to letting off steam?

The verision of the 9/11 commission report I read (found at http://www.9-11commission.gov/report/index.htm) really didn't explain at all what happened, it just explained how they responded and what they intend to do...

*although I will say I did not read the entire report, I skipped to the chapters that I felt might impart evidence as to how the towers fells, yet they were absent of any information like that... they merely said how the FDNY, NYPD and other organizations responded...
