I used crest white strips for a while last year. They did work pretty well except my teeth hurt like really bad all day after i put it on. I also used this other stuff that you have to brush on at night but it didnt really do anything.

I've heard that stuff really erodes the enamel on your teeth. I try not to use it. I remember my grandmother making something out of baking soda and a few other things around the house once that got mine really white...I'll have to ask her what was in it.

I'm sure there are lots of places that have some kind of organic whitener or even a recipe online....just do a search. :D

My girlfriend just bought me a tooth whitening kit for my birthday, lovely girl but obviously she was offended by the colour of my teeth! Then again there isn't much you can say when you have a 20 a ciggie day habit.

This stuff is incredible. I've tried a couple of other kits, one of them made my teeth look like mirrors! and went to dentist who quoted me a hefty sum. THis kit is like a gumshield and you add a gel to it, you wear it for about 2 hrs everyday for a week. Go to www.the-smile-place.com and order it there.

Whilst im posting, can anyone recommend a decent perfume for a present. (not too expensive but nice)

Hey thanks:) Ummm....a perfume.....well, I like scents that are light and summery and not very "perfumey"....and one of my favorites is Sunflower by Elisabeth Arden. I dont believe it is too expensive...but it has been a while since I bought a bottle.

I like Arm&HAmmer Advance white tooth paste :) It says 3 shades whiter in one tube. I have tried other whitening toothpastes but none of them have really seemed to work well, but with the Advance white I did notice results. It doesn't taste the best because it has baking soda and peroxide in it, but I think it works best and I eventually got used to the taste.
I have tried the crest stuff that you put on your teeth at night-the kind you that you paint the white stuff on your teeth and then go to bed. I don't like that stuff at all.

whitestrips work. i have used them two or three times, since they came out. even my dentist was impressed by the results. they do taste pretty gross though. also, if you have any caps or fillings in your front teeth, you probably won't want to use them, because they will make your teeth too white, and there will be a discrepancy between your real teeth, and the dental work. my hubby started using them, but had to stop, because he has a cap on one of his front teeth, and it was starting to look obvious. perfume..i always liked clinique happy, and calvin klein eternity, they are in the $30-40 range. now that i am an avon rep, my new favorite is called goddess. it's an avon perfume that costs less than $20.

~*sorry... but i'm very skeptical about things like this! did you know that the *average* north american/european woman eats over 7 pounds of lipstick in her lifetime?? i wonder how much bleach is used in those products (of course its probably not labelled as such), and how much is swallowed while you use them, and how good bleach or chlorine or whatever it is in those concentrations is for your body??? sorry to be the nature police ~ but i wonder...*~

I feel that it is my duty as a dedicated dental assistant and future dental hygentist to step in here and share some of my knowledge about teeth!

There are things you can use around the house such as baking soda and peroxide...this will whiten your teeth slightly, it will not harm your teeth if only used say once a month....Do not do this every day or every week....

Crest White strips are FABULOUS...they work very well..one of the only things sold to the general public that actually do something ! Try crest white strips supreme..they have even more peroxide in them to whiten your teeth...They will make your teeth very very sensitive..but your not going to get your teeth any whiter w/ out having sensitivity...*Whitestrips not too pricey...but hey, if u gotta drop 40 bucks...that's worth it to have whiter teeth!

Bleaching trays and kits (gel stuff) from dentist or net....those work very well also...but are very expensive...the ones we sell at my office are about 200 dollars...

Professional 1 HOUR whitening....This will make your teeth hollywood white....I had this done for only ten minutes out of the sixty and it whitened my teeth 8 shades!!! it is amazing...the procedure is EXTREMELY uncomfortable...The peroxide we put on your teeth tingles and burns .... it is painful.. i do not recommend this..it is not worth it...and it's very expensive anywhere from 500 to 800 dollars...And it made my teeth hurt like hell for about a week..they were sensitive to air as i would breath and my fillings would zing for no reason...

****Any whitening you do will make your teeth sensitive and they all taste awful***

*do not use them if you have crowns or bridges or partial dentures up front (k 9 to k 9) because it will not bleach those..

prairepixie-it really isn't bleach that they use in whitening products it is a different kind of hydrogeon peroxide....BUT if u want to talk about bleach...dentist do use it...the same bleach that u would use in your household...the use it when they do root canals..they use a needle and syringe and shoot it up the canal of your tooth to clean it out :)

~*no bleach eh... just hydrogen peroxide?!?! well... in any case i'm not to hip-hop-happy on either of those substances being concentrated in my body for any length of time ~ to each their own! use vinegar and if i must baking soda to clean the house... haven't been sick for years and years screw that kill household germ-fest propeganda! anyhoo... thanks for the info on my ignorant assumption. you learn something new every day! but did you HAVE to go into the needle bit... gave me shivers!*~

i like the crest whitestrips...I too think they are better than going to the dentist. My teeth have never hurt to bad using the strips or going to the dentist to have my teeth whitened.

I just didn't like getting mine professionally whitened because they were way too white...I felt like Ross from friends when his teeth were glowing in the dark after he left the whitener on for too long. lol
The ones from crest whiten the teeth gradually enough so that it looks normal but are still more white...

Hope I'm not too late... hehe...
I love Clinique Happy. It's not really obvious and strong, but I get lots of compliments on it. It's very subtle and summery and sweet. It's the only kind I've ever worn.
