I had an idea for a story. It started out as a short story, but I think I'm going to make it a novel. But the problem is it takes place in the early-mid 50s. The problem I've come across when researching the 50s is that I don't think I've found one unbiased source on the topic. Every place I look seems to see the 50s as either a wonderful happy time or a horrible time. There were bad things and good things about the 50s, I know, but I don't think most people who lived thru them got to see the worst of it or the best of it. There has to be some middle. I guess I'm just asking if anyone knows of an unbiased source on that time period. A book, a website, whatever. I'm not picky. Any sort of help is appretiated.
