A few people have said "a fag is a stick" or "a faggot is a bundle of sticks" In medieval times people were burned at the stake. The "faggot" was the pile of sticks they lit on fire to burn the people to death. The fires were for anyone who went against the church. During the Spanish Inquisition they made gay prisoners collect these "faggots" for witch-fires, and would sometimes throw them into the fires as well. There's one connection. That's the most I could find about it. And I love how the people on here are so mature about this. One person says that they find it offensive how people say this, so others jump on in "Oh yeah, well you're a fuckin' faggot! Hahaha!!" Being a hippie is all about acceptance and peace and love and working together for the good of the whole world. Being homophobic doesn't fit in to that. So, why are you here?? I think that when people use gay as something derogatory it takes away from what they're saying, which is kind of sad because the person can have a really good point. But when they say "gay" it just makes them seem less intelligent. That's what I think.
I look at it this way, if I want to call something gay, I will. I dont care who it insults, or who is going to cry about it. Just like when you cut me off if we are going down the road, I will flip you off. I am a very peaceful person for the most part, but I am not just gonna be like awww I hurt his/her feelings over something so stupid, and stop saying what the fuck I want. I dont believe in censorship because of "sensitive ears".
gay/fag are used just like any other swear word. i dont see how they are any different. you call someone a mother fucker, youre not actually implying that they fuck mothers. Or call someone a bastard, you dont actually mean to say that they are a bastard. Its just a negative word. if youre going to take offence to it, take offence to all of the other swear words as well.
i just feel that by using the word "gay", we're saying that its ok to be prejudiced against a group of people. if someone here used to word "******" to describe someone that they didn't like, i think that many more people would have a problem with it. if most people still used racist words, racism would be much more common. peoples' perceptions are altered by their observations of others' words and actions. if you are told something for long enough, such as "muslims are terrorists", i believe that it becomes second nature to come to that conclusion, even if you don't conciously believe it.
People would freak out about the word ****** because most people are fucking PC assholes. There is still just as much racism as there was before, people just hide it now because people are so goddamn sensitive about things. If you call someone a moron or stupid, isn't that offensive to ACTUAL morons? Moron was not an insult at first, it's a person of low mental capacity. People used it as an insult, just like calling someone retarded or a retard. Here is some advice to people that get offended by words. GROW A FUCKING PAIR. That goes for you ladies too, I realize not all men find testicles attractive on a woman, but that's life.
Listen Im all about peace and shit like that, but Im not gonna hide what I want to say just because someone will become appauled, thats rediculous. Especially concidering your not applying that someone is in fact gay or anything else, its a word used commonly, and if you got a problem with it, THEN DONT USE THE INTERNET
hehe yer there are only two ive gone to school with for a ages, one of them embraces the call, the other gets pissed off still after all these years
