I had the honor of getting tattooed this weekend by Aisea Toetu'u from hawaii. I had to fly 800 miles round trip to get the work done, as he was only in town for a few weeks. The style of tattoing is called tatou, or 'tapping', performed with handmade tools, an needles carved from bulls tusks. It was truly a memorable and spiritual experience, and I think was much better than any of my previous 3 tattoos done with machines. There are a number of designs worked into this piece that represent who I am and symbolize different aspects of my life. I thought that I would share some pics with the hipgroups.... drawing the design halfway thru the biggest comb - a row of needles the final piece! the clouds yesterday over central cali at 7am here's a link to a short video clip, too.. right click, save as to watch http://www.curiousculture.com/cdc/Shared/tatao/video1.wmv
