It's been raining for about 8 days here in New England - puddles everywhere, flooding..... I've gone barefoot just about every day - I figure, fuck it, my shoes and socks are just gonna get soaked and not dry out, might as well leave em home. Anybody else enjoying the deluge?
We don't get a lot of rain where I live, but when it does it gives me another excuse to go barefoot. I love a heavy rain. Generally I tell people my shoes and socks got wet and I had to take 'em off. Just say "No" to shoes and socks!!!!!!!
as of 10/16 it's 9 rainy days straight. As I hiked around yest. I was asked "Are you doing pennance or did your boots get wet?" I said "neither, barefooting's more fun I love it" the lady said she couldn't because it was too rough for her. I suggested that she should go on a softer area like the grass. She then asked "do you have trouble in the mud? you seem to walk so easily" I said "dirty toe nails are the only inconvenince, no big deal" Is anyone else enjoying the rainy weather? Archie
I do enjoy walking barefoot in the deluge. But it's become a pain, too. While I don't miss the droughts, this year is way, way over the top. There is so much rain, we're being screwed out of the lovely Maine fall, in the same way we missed spring. I work outside, so that's two critical seasons of business being cut back. For my end of the state, the biggest screw job is the almost total lack of sun. Many don't realize this eastern end of the state is truly maritime, not like the rest of New England, or Maine either. However! I also barefoot it in my outdoor work, except in the serious cold, so yes, I've been enjoying many wonderful rinses in the water, and the waterlogged squishy land. It is delicious how the moss and grass squishes clean water between the toes. I see people trying to side-step the puddles, not doing very well at it, and sogging their stupid shoes, what a freakin nightmare. No such problem for me. We have a lot more rain still to come, but I know that, even if this ridiculous season can hold winter off, the water everywhere will be too cold to walk thru (very often) very soon. I noticed the chillier conditions underfoot yesterday. One has to decide one's limits. Usually you'll find your limits are colder than you thought, but there's still limits. I'm not there yet.
