I would like to stop taking my birth control pills, but Im wondering.. How long after you have had sex must you continue to take your pills until there isnt a chance of getting pergnant from spernwho staye din you anymore?
Likely you could stop at your leisure, as the bc probably would slowly fade away with lingering effects, I seriously doubt it would stop working the instant you stop taking them. Of course this is purely speculation.
Actually, soulless, you have to take them every day at the same time for them to be 100% effective.....so yes, they do kind of stop working instantly.... I would think a few days would be long enough, but you should really be asking a doctor or nurse.....
But they're aren't 100% effective anyway are they? Besides, neither would lingering sperm be 100% effective. Damn I argue too much.
Sperm has to live a little while....pregnancy is not instantanious, silly..... It can take a few days to meet with the egg....
OK, so correct me if I'm wrong... The way hormonal birth control works is by creating a hostile environment for the egg... So it doesn't make the egg infertile, but it prevents any potentially fertilized egg from implanting and being able to develop... So it doesn't matter how long sperm live, because the issue is rather what happens to the embryonic cell if one of those spermies actually fertilized an egg... Am I right here? Assuming I haven't been completely misinformed, it seems that the safest option would be to just finish out this pack of pills... Unless of course you're having problems, like some relatively severe side effects...
The way hormonal birth control works is that it prevents you from ovulating....so no egg. Egg + sperm = pregnancy.
