Get er done, but its been explained to me on several occasions that the moon is just too close to the earth to make a difference considering the measurment concerning stars and planets is usually in light years.
its not about being closer or further its about not having to look through the same amount of light pollution to see what you're trying to see....and you can't build nearly as big of a telescope to float around in space as you could if it was on solid ground like the moon.....the only problem would be your window of viewing opportunity for the moon would be very small for each area in space since the moon is orbiting at such high speeds
