I was just thinking, where did the term roach come from to mean the little piece of a joint or blunt left after smoking? Like who thought of calling it that, I guess nobody knows but I wonder... Its kinda like the 420 origin thing.

Well I know that the tearm roach wasnt meant to be used for the end of a ciggaret or joint, but instead for blunt cigars. And all I can figure is, the end of a blunt might resemble a cockroach? who knows...

by the way..theres alot of info on the 4:20 origin.. google it

Kinda like in fear and loathing at the district attourney convention.
" The dope fiend, refers to the reefer butt, as a roach, because it resembles a cockroach."

Thats actually where it came from. The song talks about Pancho Villas army refusing to go on fighting unless the had more pot to smoke. The foot soldiers in his army were called cucarachas (cockroaches).

holy shit!! this is crazy! bare with me, and on the forums stoned, again. Anyway, the cockroach and la cucaracha are the same thing blah blah. yeah. long story short. i'm spanish= i know la cucaracha. So just now i was smoking a joint and was thinking about "the roach" and then i started singing la cucaracha, and my friend told me the same thing you're telling her. about Pancho Villa's soldiers.

niiiice. I'm gonna go ahead and listen to some boleros and sleep.

    later!

I never got why a roach is called a roach and why a joint is called a joint.

I rolled a huge assed joint once, using something like 12 papers and a cut of weed, the roach actually did resemble a cochroach at the end.
