"If 25 years ago I had said that the majority of Canadians would be drinking bottled water today, you would have laughed. If I were to say now that we may have to breathe bottled air in 25 years if we don’t fundamentally change the way our society works, would you laugh? And if we can’t breathe the air, does it really matter whether the government of the day is right or left?" This is a quote from Jim Harris, the leader of the Green Party in Canada When i read this i wanted to cry. I thought it was so deep. I don't understand how people can NOT care about the environment. I don't want my children to see the end of the world. I don't want to be retired and having to live in a bubble or a dome. The environment should be everyones top priority, i don't understand why it isn't. It just baffles me...
I share your bewilderment. Some people are just really selfish or uninformed I guess. I'm doing what I can to change things though. It happens slowly, hopefully not too slowly though.
If it ever comes to us breathing from bottled air, or in a bubble, is when we should rally together and attack the people that caused it.
yea the baby boomers should clean this up. since it them that are in office making decisions in government jobs and such. when gas was like 30 cents a litre and they had cadilacs the got a mile gallon. they were like stupid hippies. three cheers for capitalism!

yes, Canada is really bad for Environmental Issues. Nobody gives a fuck, here. We do need to change things, but sometimes it seems like there's too many people out there who won't ever give a fuck.
Canada is more progressive than the US on certain environmental issues, especially logging...just look at the difference between B.C. and Washington state or Oregon. They selectively logged instead of making giant bald spots everywhere you look that isn't a national park.
but the us has scrapped thirty years of enviroment protection since bush came to power. in europe, 2% of polutants being let into the air is bad. they push themselves to 100% pure air in their incinarators. why hasn't every nation caught on to this. catching 65% of pollutants isn't good enough. there all lazy pigs. taking a couple million from a secure buisness to install cleaning filters on the smoke stacks is too much to ask. wat a bunch of loosers. how many people want to kick some ass. i do
Thats Really Scary if you think about it, I Hate seeing people throwin Trash On the ground , And What gets me is people Throwin trash on the ground, when there 2 feet away from the trash can.
it's not a matter of who has what, it's just that together as a whole, we should care about the environment more. Why havent we all adapted to the same procedures as Europe and all that. It doesnt make sense! If their are easier, more sensible ways to do things, WHY AREN'T WE DOING THEM? I don't mean to go all Captain Planet on everyone but people disrespect this earth so much it makes me sick. Fuck, i mean i have a guilty concsience all day if i accidentally litter somewhere.
It's our values as a society as a whole, not disrespect for only the environment. To put it bluntly, people just don't give a shit. About anything. Politics, government, taxes, the environment, global affairs, nothing outside of their meager little existence. If throwing paper on the street is easy and has no negative effect on their lives, then it has no effect period and should be an accepted practice. Things like this take mass awareness and motivation, and we as a society are too obsessed with American Idol and Paris Hilton to actually do something worthwhile.
Makes me pretty sad. No one cares about our next generations, and all this HORROR that we are leaving them. Everyone is so selfish, and sometimes ill informed. The goverment, and the big companies dont want to help the masses out, instead they focus on other things. I freak out when reading that the world population will basically double in 2010! WOW!!!!! Poor Earth, I wish that mankind would have taken a different path, a more environmentaly minded path. I feel bad admitting this, but I think that it is too late. All those landfills, logging, toxic products used everyday, cars, everything... My heart aches, I feel it in the Earth, and I just wish everything would end in a white brilliant light....No more suffering.
Something that's really been bothering me is the amount of waste we create at work. I work at a movie theatre (AMC), and we continuously throw out tons and tons of plastic nacho bags, and now we have straw coverings too. Its more hygenic, and they are tiny, but it's stillmore trash. The thing that really irks me, is the popcorn thrown out...It can be perfectly good popcorn, and during rush time it will be spilt all over the counter in massive piles, but we have to throw it out...and at the end of the day we can have three popcorn machines full and have to toss it. It's sad, to reall see how much waste and food is thrown out.
yeaaaah i work at a movie theater too, and i cant believe how much shit we use and throw away. We go through like 7 rolls of paper towels per shift, and it makes me sick. We at least recycle some of our stuff there, but all the HUGE cardboard movie standees and paper products that are never recycled makes me really mad. Movie theaters definitely waste a lot of shit.
its not enough to talk about it we gotta get out a do somthing about it What are you guys doing to help?.....just wondering
How is it that it's been "improving for decades"? The simple fact is that it hasn't. Air quality where I live has become increasingly poor, with more and more smog days.

Again Jiimaan, I thank you providing that useful link that repudiates my assertions. I can always count on your for backing up your claims.
