we get the mayfair where a bunch of inbreads come and put up about 20 rides through the center of town
fringe festival - bunch of plays and stuff, though the dance shows are usually good shakespeare on the saskatchewan - two shakespeare plays redone in a new setting, like the 80's or something exhibition - just a bunch of rides and stuff, but everybody makes a big deal out of it. i think it's lame, but i do live in hicksville jazz festival - bunch of different jazz artists come over and play... some free concerts but mostly paid ones i'm sure there's more, those are the only ones I can remember
The lake outside of my dad's hometown used to have an Elk Festival. Yep. Elk... as in big deer. Trooper played at it one year, but mostly it was just local bands, with booths set up talking about the importance of Elk in the regional ecosystem. Teenagers got drunk from smuggling beer from the beer gardens, Young men got into fights because thats what young drunk men do. Some people spent the night in local drunk tanks, and the next morning the sandy beach was littered with used condoms. All in celebration of the wonderous Elk.
sheetsfest (sounds crappie when you translate it) rembrandtfestival uhm, october 3th is a local holiday...yeah...

Lovely... I haven't heard about those, but I am only a couple blocks from the infamous Aberdeen St....my kids like to watch all the purple people in bizarre outfits walking up to the homecoming football game....it's like the carnival is in town...

Oh yeah.. Friday 13th... I totally forgot about that, and its HUGE. It kinda gets to me now, seeing as it usually consists of me staying home while my mom and her boyfriend take their motorcycles into town, because of some ridiculous reason they've made up... The smell of all that leather can be quite sickening after a while too(i'm not vegetarian or anything but... blegh..).

We have The Pecan Festival. If you like pecans and drunk people this is the place for you. Then there's the Corn Festival. See above for description. Kotiel Trade Days. It's a big flea/handmade goods market/bike rally. It's pretty awesome. Then there's Cenlabration. Live music by the riverside and a carnival. And lastly, The Festival of Lights on Nachitoches. Millions of christmas lights, a parade, live music by the river, fireworks, and carnival food. Good times.
We have art festivals and the Cowboy and Indian festival, oh and the strut your mutt thing. I think that's about it for my tiny town. Oh and my town hosts a pow wow every year.
