i read alot of astrology charts and i can never tell from just reading one what is likely to happen to the person concerned. will they succeed beyond their wildest dreams, collapse in a heap of ignominious defeat, or simply disappear in the mists of mediocrity? dire indications in a natal chart do not necessarily translate as dire outcomes in life. sometimes a person's purpose in life may not be to shine like a brilliant star but rather their purpose, ever as honourable, may be to prevent darkness from consuming all. preventing darkness can in many respects be much harder to do than to emanate light. often ppl who are the most conspicuous and successful are doing what comes entirely naturally to them as the universe supports their every move. in this there is little real quest. for many people - and in my mind, these are the real heroes of the show - life's fate seems to be a constant invitation to failure and darkness yet somehow they manage to survive all the drawbacks, setbacks and humiliations of life and prevail. god know's how, but they do. it's important to remember this i think, especially in the materialistic world we live in, that values little other than conspicuous success and brazen affluence. the world is full of ppl who don't have enough food to eat or a home to live in yet these are the very ones who carry on living despite every conceivable obstacle being put in their way. this in itself is no small triumph, for merely to survive against hopeless odds is an attainment worthy of a hundred easy lives and their purpose. i think about many people i know who have never succeeded in the ways our culture thinks are important or valuable yet in so many personal ways their success has been tremendous. some have triumphed over addiction, physical handicap, sickness, abuse of all kinds, and despite all this they have not succumbed to the long night of despair that their lives could have so easily become. this in itself is a victory, not through creating more light but rather by preventing further darkness which in itself is every bit as worthy as the eternal flame.
