It has been awhile since I have posted on this particular forum here. The last time was probably 6 months ago not so long after I joined the hipforums and that was on waysharer's post in regards to communal living. An option which I believe is still open and oone I will get round to taking up to see if that is what I am looking for. To the point ... since that time I have been on and off the road round the UK meeting people and trying out various ideas and feeling around. dipping my toe into various places staying awhile here and there while persuing my own course. A winding one at that. Still I now have a clearer idea of the problems in communal living and its benefits and the problems encountered with certain individuals who dream the dream but don't walk the walk so to speak. Commual living is not one where we get to laze around in the sunshine all day smelling the flowers but one where it takes a group of people with intelligence and personal aspirations to work together round the clock in order to find a place and to make the dream work. The thing I find is that the communes that do work you are not going to find here. The communes that work have been founded by chance and grow from within. You need to get up and out. You need to have some skills to provide you with money to get you around the countyr meeting people. TO IMMERSE YOURSELF IN THE LIFESTYLE. Only then will you come across what you are looking for. The other way I see in acheiving this dream is to hook up with a few like-minded individuals and get out there living on the road. Surviving from day to day helping one onother in any way at your disposal. Shedding this innate desire to withdraw into yourselves when the going gets tough and the food is scarce and the weather bad. What is it you are truly looking for? The rewards of having a group of people who can live together through all that life throws at you on the road is an amazing feeling and creates an impenatratable aura for those who wish to break up what you have. standing shoulder to shoulder pitching in all the resources and skills you have to the group is what it takes. Nothing less. I am on the road here in the UK ... I have a mother and father (divorced) who don't agree or understand my feelings on this way of life but offer my a roof over my head should I need it. I am in the process of finding out how it all works and how I can bring together people to share in my dream. Our dream. Anyone who wants to join me here in the UK in my attempt to have a commune get in touch with me. I live on the road and pitch a tipi up here and there and have an ever growing list of contacts to smooth the way a little. I will get to where I want to go though it won't be without hardship and mistakes. If you are serious about wanting to be free come join me. If you can offer us any help in anyway it would be gladly apreciated after all no one is infallible, least of all myself. Oh ... and learn humility. Love and peace. Giles
Hi Giles, I was desperately bored at work today, on duty so I had to sit at my desk answering the phone whenever it rang, and whilst browsing the web on possible escape routes from my corporate life I came across your message on HipForums. I couldn't add it to My Favourites (I hotdesk and we are watched very carefully at work by Big Brother (Audit and Investigation recently nearly sacked a colleague who's been in the job for 30 years because he'd surfed the net where he shouldn't have) so it's taken me hours to search (at home) to find your message again. Got there in the end though! I really liked your article and was inspired by what you wrote. I am desperate to escape London life, 'normal' life, etc, and prepared to take risks. I just need someone/people to do it with. I love nature, I'm spiritual, intelligent, caring. I learn quickly. I won't write anymore just yet, as you had last posted 6 months ago, but if you get back to me I'll tell you what happened to me recently .... Take care, Romayne
