I've been getting interested in the style of psychadelia, experimental, and garage rock. Can't, for the life of me, figure out any guitar riffs to use on a track like that.

    Any tips? Help?

    Much appreciated.

Unless you are Frank Zappa, drugs will probably be needed.

...and you're not Frank Zappa, so start eating and smoking and snorting everything you can!!

get a wah pedal too... they're fun; don't use distortion pedals, just crank the amp way up, it sounds better.:)

Ah, bros I have a wah pedal but my fucking inspiration is shot!

I think that while soulrebel is quite sarcastic, he may be right. I haven't smoked in a few weeks now. Time for another dime. Problem is getting stoned around family so I have access to the studio.

I was being semi-sarcastic. Snorting most everything would probably make for an unpsychedelic sound (ex: rock 'n' roll bands & cocaine ingestion).

part of the definition of 'psychedelic rock' i have in this book of mine is "experimental music from the late 1960's that was created under the influence of drugs."

Try listening to psychedelic stuff for ideas too. I feel that psychedelic music means something differrent to each person. It's the music you'd imagine hearing if you were on an acid trip perhaps.

    1.) Take an electric guitar
2.) Hook it up to a Vox Wah Wah Pedal
    3.) Drop acid
    4.) Press "Record"
    5.) Play music

    There you go. :D

What a lot of folks seem to be saying is "You CAN polish a turd."

Let me interject a radical idea here. Why don't you pick a song,or a piece of music, and figure out how it's played, and listen to it over and over again and then practice your ass off until it sounds good?
Sounds crazy, sure, but give it a shot!

I could be wrong but I think he's more interested in playing his own psychedelic rock instead of covers....

how can he play his own psychedelic rock if hes not including psychedelics?

while effects are fun, they really mostly just cover up what youre playin. listen to lots of music, take drugs, and then make sounds. its really the way to do it. dont sit down and try to write a song. sit down and just play, recording all the stuff you do. then review it afterwards and work out what sounds you like. keep doing this until you have many hours of improvising sounds. listen to them. stop listening to other music and start using your many recorded sounds as inspiration. it will morph into something unique, and psychedelic.

That's fine, too. If you want to write in a style, you have to listen and learn the elements of that style.
The most effective way to do that,by far,is by intense listening and learning songs in that style.(Substitute "piece of music" if you like.)
You can take lessons from somebody well-versed in the style,or look for books and instructional videos. Those can be great jump-starts to what you're going to be doing:a lot of listening and practicing.
