yeah i am a resident of califonia and i enjoy visiting haight ashbury as i am a huge vinyl collector and that is the place to be for that sort of thing. But when it comes to finding people who are carrying on the sacred lsd culture it seems that no one in that area exists anymore there. It just seems sad that a place that symbolizes the hippie culture seems to have run dry of the chemical that enlightened it in the first place. Maybe i'm just pessimistic, or else im just not talking to the right people.
it still exists to some extent, but its gone underground. times are different, people are afraid and rightly so to live their psychedelic lifestyle in public, and therefore it doesn't spread. one of the only outlets these days seem to be the music festivals... yeah what happened to america
Hey Kids, what's Happened to the Haight? Time of course and touristy attractions kind of like Fisherman's Wharf. But you can still get a good vibe...my suggestion: Go to hippie hill on any Sunday for the drum circle, dance to the rythme...turn on your love light...smile..talk to somebody smiling back. Smoke the best buds (its everywhere/watch for the "six-ups") but forget about real L. In that aspect the DEA won. Really, its not available on the street...the penalties are too high(10 years for trafficking). lol h. Ps. There are still hundreds of kind souls who have "dropped out" and living the "summer of love" in the Haight. "can you spare some change?" Lots of Rainbows, mojos, crusties and gutter punks there...worth a check out.
no real L,i dont know were you live but in ohio you can get good cid for $3-$7 and fuck penalties there real laxed hear,my friend got poped with 10 hits 15 tabs of x and oz of weed and got 3 years comunity control.so if you want drugs or want to sale them, come to ohio if you want anything else try michagan, because ohio blows
Yeah right, he got three years probation because the drugs did not test right and the DA had no idea what it was; next times' he's popped his probation will be revoked and he'll probably serve his full sentence. I live in Cali, the drug laws in Ohio are way stricter than out here. Besides - I was talking about dealing, not posession. Finally,(I'm an old fart from way back and don't say this to start a flame war) The L these days suck...its different, not the real deal. I read the post on these boards, nobody has the true experience (lately). Who has heard the taste of oranges? Seen sounds? Snow crystals revolving on their skin and at the same time being able to remember and converse with others as though you were straight, except now your happier than you've ever been in your life because you know now your sense of self goes far beyond your ego, or your true death in the future. Do any true heads out there know what I'm talking about?
eh...there may be a place right now that was almost like what haight ashbury was like...but then again if there was, it would probably face the same fate as haight ashbury...sooner or later...
im telling you, come to ohio, dont go to columbus, toledo or any big city but the small towns.try McGuffey i swear that 3/4 of the people there do drugs.you can find any drug, and good prices, and no cops, zero, thay dont have any and its all country around it and as for the lsd, the synth is step for step albert hoffman.it comes from ohio northern university
The haight went the way of everything else. Harleys are now Japanese bikes with a corporate marketing ploy and a champagne price tag. The corners of Haight and Ashbury are now inhabited by a Gap if I remember correctly.
Your memory is correct...and don't forget the Ben & Jerrys ice cream shop across the street with Cherry Garcia and Wavy Gravy flavors. Oh well, ....sigh...so what, life is what you make of it. Have fun and treat everybelly you meet with kindness. You don't need to be in the Haight to live on "the golden road to unlimited devotion" h.
yep...i remember distinctly walking by one, and some preppy looking girl looks and says "OoOoO! a gap!", and walks in...its sad...
Same here in California, both Northern and Southern. If you know the right person you can get LSD-25 made in the same way Albert Hoffman synthesized it. It's actually called Hoffman's Rainbows, because of the following reasons: It is synthesized in the same way Albert Hoffman outlined, it is family acid: Rainbow, and when you take 1 hit or drop of it you see enough rainbows to drive you nuts. And it's also pure as pure as pure. SWIM had a vial and it was crystal clear, no yellow tinge, nothing, straight up looked like water. According to this person its 150 mics per dose and I think he is right, because I took 1 dose and couldn't imagine taking more than that unless it was the next day and I had some tolerence. The most I've taken of this was 3 hits and I did have a 2 days of taking it - tolerance - still yet i couldn't drive at all, and I ended up getting lost in the woods for 4 hours before someone found me and helped me out. I've done cid over 100 times and never had anything so potent. It was markedly different than any other cid I had years before as it just made me feel so damn good and the visuals were intense and beautiful.
sound about right,i all ways thaught that i could get better drugs in the bigger cities, till i went to a cupple of parties thrown buy some chem majors.more lsd, mdma and mda than i had ever seen, were talking mason jars ps. if you are ever in ohio try yellow springs,it's a hippy town and dave chappel lives there
Wtf? You were surprised you couldn't drive? No offense or anything man, but that makes it sound like the 100 or so times you dosed the cid you tried was trash. Driving is only possible on very very very VERY light trips. Everytime I take cid I feel better than good as in the best I could ever feel in this plane of existance with lots of visuals. You can tell it's shite when you don't get that feeling in your solar plexus, and the visuals aren't intricate, or when you gotta take like 3 to get some visuals and still don't have that feeling. Not saying that what you've got now isn't potent in comparison to some of the trash that has been around in the past few years (cause a lot of what I have seen lately is really good), but sorry, (to go back to hickey's idea) nobody is out there making 370 microgram hits anymore like during the late 60's. Also, lots of doses getting passed off as L that aren't really L. If you think this is bullshit then you probably haven't kept up with the current climate. I wish it was still like the only way you could get burnt on paper hits was by buying blank paper. Now you gotta worry about buying trash that isn't even LSD. LSD laws are also very shitty. IDK how anyone would interpret LSD law in America as 'lax,' but you get caught with a couple sugar cubes it's as bad as a couple sheets because they count carrier medium weight as the total amount for punishment for the laws. And really, you should expect LSD laws to be that shitty in America, the land of fear, where money is the end all answer to any question your puny mind can ask. LSD contradicts "true American values," which is why the .gov tries so hard to eradicate its use.
Interesting thread...Being that I have not really been involved in any scenes lately(told you I was an old fart) I may have spoken out of school and apologize if I have given anybody the wrong impressions if in fact there is still real L out there. Personally, I visit SF at least once a year and I dont see L on the street. I do see X,crack, heroin, ups/downs,which I'm not into. I meet & know kind souls there and when I enquire about L they tell me not to bother...its just not happening... p.s.: to respond to a previous post; many times I drove home from Dead shows very high on acid...I felt like I was the safest driver on the road. With Pure acid the hallucinations can be understood as "window dressings". Mostly texture, I could always differentiate the road...its just that the road was covered in brilliant diamonds. But thats just me...I certainly don't recommend anybody else to drive while high on anything. lol h.
IDK if I ever got to go to a Dead show ( ) I wouldn't be in any condition to even like walk fast after the show lol, I usually like to take about 4 hits of decent blotter when I trip because I like when the visuals are real intricate like they should be. IE watching deities come out of a tapestry on my wall and start dancing to james brown etc. Driving is just dangerous when you look into a light and the color that stays residual in your eye turns into a space invader that keeps bugging the shit out of you. But yea there is some REAL good L around, supposedly best since before jerry died , but I wouldn't know cause I am too young.. def. some strong hits were around this summer though at the festies i caught. L isn't really on the street anymore man, but SWIM tells me, only place SWIM knows of to get large amounts of L (like g units) is in NoCal (heard of some good places in the midwest too). So I'm sure if you look around you might be able to get some in the bay area. People tell you not to bother because it seems like lately there is a lot of drfly and do* garbage going around on sheets; a lot of people who once swore by LSD don't even wanna try taking it anymore. I know that after being misled that a sheet of DOI was LSD and taking a ten strip, I am a lot more weary about hits now too. Also know that mars attacks was the dankest shit in the land this summer, 3 hits had me flying like I took 6 or so. Anybody else come across these? Another alien print I had with cartoon aliens had me seeing full on fractals with little buddhists and ninjas running around on my legs on 2 hits and a roll... shit that strong wasn't really around for a while, at least not from what I saw in Summer 04 it was a different story... lots of Lavender that took four hits to really even feel like 1-2. IDK it's sad what happened to LSD because tripping completely changed my mode of thought for the better. I no longer value material like most others around me, ie I could finally totally understand why money is evil. Some things you can't really grasp when you're not tuned in because of the american dream and other social phacades you're conditioned to believe since childhood... until you trip and the veils are let down.
San Francisco is still a great city to live in. Better yet are the small towns just north across the Golden Gate Bridge. Why I love "the city": Many excellent beaches, Mount Tamalpais, (biking, hiking, surfing, swimming in some of the lakes in the NRA[National Recreation Area] there is some of the best music in the world- a lot of it free, open mics', great bastions of highter learning, and of course Golden Gate Park. Believe me, go to Hippie Hill on any day...you will meet kind souls. The Haight Ashbury is still happening...thats why I keep visiting. Reading my previous posts I see I came off a little cynicle. lol h.
I've never taken LSD-25 although I'll never give up . I took about 80 trips at least on blotters in the late 70's and had some fantastic trips but none were pure LSD-25 unless it was degraded due to oxygen exposure Idon't know why . I used to always take two and sometimes it lingered for two days. It seemed to be full of speed but how do you get so much speed on a hit of blotter? Anyway in answer to the question I have heard the colours and seen the sound as well as expienced the mind but alas not due to LSD-25 Love and Peace (still) RAT Auztralia
What happened to the HAIGHT-ASHBURY? The last time I was there was in the 1970's. Still cool then. That's some crooked street! And step hills! San Francisco is a beautiful city, with many positive attributes, and on my favorite city's list. I haven't been there, recently. I can comment on a similar city close to me, i.e. Ann Arbor, Michigan, which has some comments in the Hippy Havens section, that may apply. Ann Arbor is the "San Francisco/Berkeley of the Midwest", with hills, beautiful victorian homes, a college, the Huron River and a rich 60's history. We do have a Berkley, Michigan (less one "e" in the spelling), which some "trippy" shops and hip people, but not San Francisco- looking. Basically, San Francisco and Ann Arbor have become "expensive" to live in. Yuppies have replaced hippies. Something other "hip" cities around the USA, have been experiencing. We're moving toward a commercial (corporate) uniformity and "blandness". Some have speculated that many of these city's hippies have moved out into the country, to a closer, cheaper suburb city or spread out more uniformally around the city, and thus, are not concentrated in one "hip" area, as they were. Pockets of hippies, here and there. Plus, the older, original hippies are getting old and dying! However, teen "neo-Hippies" sometimes take their places, but aren't yet old enough to live on their own to repopulate the hippie community and carry on the "tradition". As far as the LSD culture thing is concerned, at this year's (2005) ANN ARBOR HASH BASH (www.hashbash.com) I walked by some college students and heard one talking to another about his acid trip, and said; "I can't believe that you did that!". At the Monroe Street Fair & Block Party (www.monroestreetfair.com) on the stage (in front of Casa Dominick's resturant) Marijuana Man (from Kentucky) (www.marijuanaman.com) said he was tripping on acid, which he got from a customer, at the resturant behind him. Was he serious, or just joking? John Sinclair (for which the HASH BASH was started after his arrest for 2 joints, in 1969) had one poem where he talked about: Sandoz, a psychedelic bicycle ride, Hoffman and LSD. Some of this LSD culture is left, but not as obsessive as in the 60's. College towns is where the LSD scene usually is. Ann Arbor still has the HASH BASH (34th year) and a liberal policy on marijuana laws, i.e. possession IN CITY LIMITS, is only a civil infraction (a $50 fine, I think), plus a few headshops. Ann Arbor city residents passed a civil law for LEGALIZATION of marijuana (74% YES), but of course, the FEDS said NO! At this year's HASH BASH they protested with 74% signs, parading around the streets. You can see B&W pictures of these signs at: www.photowithmonkey.com/node/4, just click on: Hashbash 2005. Still, like San Francisco, the hippies seem less concentrated, or "headed for the hills" man. A sign of our times. But reality is what you make of it. There is strength in numbers. Want the 60's/70's hippie days back, get ALOT of people together and make it happen! Don't hand over your power. Power of the people was a popular 60's/70's phrase. What happened to America? Can you say New World Order (Odor)? The formation of the One World Government, by the Globalist, International Bankers. The "rougue" nations that were fighting (or will fight), like IRAQ, IRAN, SYRIA, N. KOREA, etc., are the nations NOT under control of the International Bankers (Rothschild, Rockefeller, etc). ...mmm... So who and/or what are we TRUELY fighting for? Countries determine culture, but politics is global (and secret agendas rule). Money and war are their tools for enslavement. The principles and guidelines of Niccolo Miachiavelli ( 16th century Italian philosopher) are used. Read the book: THE GODS OF EDEN, By William Bramley, AVON BOOKS, NY, 1989, 1990 there is no beginning and no end, only change --- QUANTUM PHYSICS the universe is in a constant flux of change. . . Farout! and Peace Out . . .
