Yeah i buy it two days after the official release... and i find it better than their previous "duran duranian" album...
It makes me think to 70's band that were usin' a lot the improvisation...
Even if their are different...they make me think to early Hawkind albums at less with their most jam songs...
I like a lot the 3 last song of the album...

I love the Dandy Warhols style and sound but haven't checked it yet as their previous cd "Welcome To the Monkeyhouse" was a huge disapointment after the 2 great cd's "Come Down" and "Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia".

thanks for the thread and reminder...added it to the list of albums I need to listen to next time i go to a record store :)

It's essential to use pot to get into this album... it can be a key to enter their smokeymonkey world...

I have been a Dandy Warhols fan for yeeeears!! While I agree that this is a great album, 13 Tales is probably by far the best one. Actually, for me it's a toss up between 13 Tales and Come Down. I wasn't a fan of their last album, too non-Dandy sounding.

I went to a private listening party for the release of Odditorium or Warlord of Mars not too long ago and got to chat it up with Courtney Taylor-Taylor. He was really stoned, quite interesting...haha

"Dandy Warhols" and "Thirteen Tales.." were amazing albums.

Damn, that listening party would've been cool! It's funny cause I just read an interview of theirs where the reporter was told by their manager not to ask any questions about drugs, because the band had stopped using them. And in the first question Courtney Taylor-Taylor got confused and said something like "I don't remember, I'm really fucking stoned right now." haha. [IMG]

Marlyn, "Sleep" is on 13 tales....

hey guys:) umm i dunno... lol i concur that come down and 13 tales are the betterish lps, but take nothing away from the others, an besides i read somewhere that they wanted to create music which was good to drink to (or get high too:p) so if ur not enjoying any of there music go 'smoke it' and tune in again hee hee.
and having gotten used to a rocky kinda groove to them early on the only dissapointment from monkey house, but odditorium in particular is the small lack of 'rock' to it, apart from totally insane/smoke it/disco, the album is a tad bit soft core if that makes any sense... ie im finding it a bit of a conundrum as to how i can rock out to it at a gig... we'll just have to see
especially since there performing live (how else? lol) an for free in 2 weeks yay!!!
i got to meet them and drive to a concert in there mini bus 2yrs ago lol, we were stuck at the hotel waiting for brent he came out of the lift soooo stoned an he'd forgotten his drumsticks so we had to wait another 10-15mins while he went back up to get em so funny...lol

    one last thing...
    dandy's rule ok!
