we always seem to need something to keep us scared, last time it was sars before that it was the millenium bug and each time we were never affected.

sooner or later we are going to get a really big pandemic, my grandfathers first wife died of the flu epidemic after the first world war and apparently people died of that in 3 hours .

as communications have got better, and people live closer together, and are more dependant on each other its more likely that a plague could spread faster and we could get a pandemic.

my advice would be eat the best diet you can, so if you get whatever it is you have the best chance of fighting it .

and be in the position that if you need to cut yourself off for a while you can

dont expect a vaccine, dont expect the goverment to do much to help you.

as I understand it the plan by the goverment is to stop people moving by using armed police and military and also medical personal if we get a major biological incident

I'm fed up with the constant scaremongering of the media for one. My mother (not the cleverest) is already telling us all that we should stop eating eggs and poultry because it's here. That's her scientific opinion after seeing the "breaking news" flash on the BBC, about the parrot.

I agree with Jonathan (and George Orwell), a government needs to keep it's people scared and grateful, it can get away with anything then.

But then we've overpopulated the world, over farmed it, over used it's resources, overdone everything really, so it's hardly surprising when we get bitten back once in a while is it?

I am not that scared for myself. I know I have a pretty good imunesystem, and I barely catch anything. So why would I catch that? Even if I do, I believe my body will fight it. I also generally avoid big masses of people, so I *believe* I am on the saver side....
I am scared though for all the people that spoiled their imunesystem with overusing whatever medication there is, instead of trying natural cures and a well balanced diet.
