Has anyone gotten the album? Well, judging by the single , I would say that the album is awesome....but I havent checked it out yet. (Is it even out yet?) It is about time Scott Weiland came back with some bad ass music....I like him with guns n' roses.....I never wouldve guessed they wouldve paired up though. They sound like a throw back to his early stuff which I LOVE that! Everything after....mmmmm......'96 I just havent been too into. I did see him back in 2000 with STP and after that he pretty much disapeared....Now I cant wait to see him with this new band. Thank God these dudes popped up on the scene....music was in some dire need of a good bite in the ass (atleast the shit floating around on radio).
I didnt like it at first, but after a few listens, I loved it. I love weiland's voice and style, and i'm glad he's back on the scene, for real. I though the whole gnr and stp mix was weird at first, but hey, it works....pretty cool. i love the single and i cant wait to pick up the album. and they're playing at the rolling rock town fair in PA, i so wanna go check them out!
The album is really really good in parts but not so good in others, it has that first album feel about it, if they manage to make a second without killing themselves or doing anythin else stupid along those lines they have the potential as a group to be extremely good. Tis nice to have that Slash sound back again too, its worth buyin just for the geetar solos, in my humble opinion anyway
I like the album, I've always liked scott weiland and well slash is a guitar god, so what's not to like about there music. Plus it's a good old fashioned rock album, guitars, bass, drums and vocals, that's all you need.
i love this song, slash is awesome. is scott trying to be like jim morrison in his video...he does that same pose and everthing else...did anyone else notice this?
Let's break down velvet revolver, shall we... Velvet - representing Scott Weiland's mannerisms Revolver - Slash, Duff, & Matt; the guns without the Rose . The name fits the combo perfectly. ...and when I say Rose, I mean Axl, for those who didn't get it ...
No. He has always danced around and posed like that. It is a bit reminisent of Jim now that you mention it.....but, nah, thats scott's thing
i did notice the whole pose thing in the video, but i dig it. it's his thing. i really dont care. i love his voice and the music.
I like it. It's an enjoyable CD that rocks pretty hard. It's just good to see Slash back in action. Slash's Snakepit put together some good grooves, but they just lacked significant material. Velvet Revolver hopefully will continue the solid hard rock groove of Slash's Snakepit, but with better songwriting. Scott Weiland seems a natural choice for vocalist.
contraband is a great rock album...one the best in years. the sound of stone temple and guns together has created an enjoyable new sound where scott's vocals are just another sound, rather than axel's frontman style. the lyrics are forgettable - axel was a better writer. slash sounds great, if a bit understated on much of the album. duff and matt sound like young pups - matt is really a great rock drummer). the album is fast paced aside from 3 slow/mid tempo songs. the first of which is horrible...the second and third are ok, if only for the chance to hear scott's voice up front, and slash's beautiful guitar work. it is great to hear two bands coalesce where both sounds are evident - and something listenable comes from it. i think "slither" is a great song, as are several others on the cd (most notable for me was headspace). guns n roses, nirvana, and tool have saved rock n roll in the second half of my lifetime, and given me something with calories and not posers - although guns headed in that direction quickly...was glad they folded before they really became a caricature of themselves. dcv-
