I was not sure where to put this thread.Anyway I heard this interesting radio program on (Australian) ABC. The bit that concerned me was this woman as a teenage girl had to go to nudist camps because her father had one day decided to become a nudist.I am not sure that a teenage girl should not be given a choice.Perhaps she should have been offered the choice of staying with friends/reletives for the day.On the other hand her father's wishes of attending a nudist camp himself with his wife should also be respected.Personally I don't go to nudist camps because because they are too consevative for me .I prefer something a bit more wacky. http://www.abc.net.au/rn/relig/spirit/stories/s1248942.htm
If one does not look upon the human form as a sexual object at all times, or view it as something evil that must always be covered up, then there is not a problem. I think that in N. America especially, we have been taught that nudity = sex. If we saw people walking around nude every day, that idea would soon die the death it deserves. On the West Coast Trail, I noticed that the European hikers did not give it a thought when they dropped their gear for a swim. It made my heart glad to see it. I feel this Victorian obsession with covering up is a part of the source of some people's perversions.
I think I agree with both of you. Yes she should have been given a choice, because It might not be something she's comfortable, but at the same time there is nothing wrong with nudist camps, and that should be reapected. But simply she should have been given the choice because not everyone is as accepting and open, I mean if shes's been raised in a society that deemed it unnatural, is it really her fault that she sees it in a certain way? Its not right, but is it her fault? Nope. But at the same time many of us im sure have been raised in similar stiff societies and have had the balls to break out.
I agree with all of you.. BUT, I would be a little hesitant of taking my child to a nudist camp, not because of the nudist's, but because of some of the rather sick people who go to such places nowaday's to feed their own warped hungers. If only such places did a backround check on it's members!
