or a really dysfunctional relationship. Some bands can work while really disliking each other, as that adds a necessary tension to the music. SCI fighting is SCI on fire, for example. Others cannot. Be happy that these men you purport to love in some fashion are off doing something that fills their souls. 18 years (has it been that long?!?!) is a nice ride. Let them go forward into their destinies.
Phish are just on break. it is only a matter of time before there back together. in at most five years they will be back. it won't be about money, but the energy they create and get from eachother. they were crying at Coventry, they were not happy about that ending.....they are just taking time for themselves....they will be back....
maybe, just maybe, Phish has an option the Dead didn't: a chance to grow solo. Look at the Dead projects: almost all are based on GD songwriting. I know the Phish projects have been exploratory and inventive. I say let them generate four times as much art!
i totally agree.....i love Phish-side-projects....Trey Anastasio Band, the 8 peice, kicked so much ass, i really like 70 volt Parade.....Mike and Leo is awesome, Mikes Band, was really fun....Vida Blue is unbelievable.....Pork Tornado and Jazz Mandolin are fun as hell too.....but they seem to unfold in a whole different way when they're with eachother....when 70 volt Parade has Mike come out, the energy is just kicked up a nothch.....i'm going to enjoy the break, but i can't wait to see PHISH again...their just somthing else.....
I have 12th row tickets to see Trey on the 15th...can't wait for that. (so i'm happy with the side projects...then and now)
• from www.phish.net 11/4/05 - Trey rejects certainty about breakup's permanency In a 10/31 story in the Illinois Entertainer, when asked"So keep all Phish questions at bay, because they're not getting back together anytime soon . . . right?". Trey is quoted as answering, "It's so funny that nobodys asked me that! We're definitely not now, and I would never do that because it was all the rage. All I'll say to that is I've said so many stupid things in the past, that have come out of my mouth, if theres one thing I'm finally starting to learn is I don't know whats going to happen. But I'd like to play music for a long time and I love those guys. Who knows?" [Editors note: 12/31/06! 12/31/06! 12/31/06!]
that is the best news i have ever heard in my entire life. i really hope they get back together...i just need to see them once...just once!!
I mean with Treys solo tour Mike Gordon has played with Trey (Waukeepeg Groove, and Mikes Song) and also Jon Fishman has played an entire show on drums with Trey, so my conclusion is that page wanted to stop, i dont think page has even thrown in a side show yet, but i stilll think one day they will reunite....which would make my life....no seriously i could die a happy man...but ubtill then let them generate more music for my ears!
I love Phish like I love no other band, and if they do get back together it needs to be for the right reason: the music. If it's done for any other reason, the art will suffer greatly. I just don't want to see one of my favorite bands pull any Eagles crap.
page has played a few shows, with Allman Brothers, he played with Vida Blue for a hurricane benefit.....he's out there........trey and page were both playing Allman Brothers....
I agree about Page. I sorta get a feeling about him like he's kinda I dunno. Just watching him in the DVD I have and in a few other videos I have, he just gives me a weird vibe.
page? weird vibe? no way! have you seen the IT DVD? he is so mellow and in the music so much....he had some of the most indepth comments of all of them......page is very kick ass, he is just wrapped up in alot of family things, divorce and the custody of his daughter.....its all very hard....but no matter, time will pass and all wounds will heal, and Phish will play again......
I hope so! But unfortunately no, I havent watched the IT dvd. COuld you possibly send it to me via email?

holy shit!!! thats what i'm talking about! thats good to hear....awesome, i'm so excited....i have to go see trey in seattle!!!!!!! its a must........page and trey back together....now all we need is a HIGHER GROUND situation, where one by one a member if Phish comes out until they're all up there jamming with trey's band, then one by one trey's band walks away, until its just PHISH up on stage jamming like hell....
