Seriously, I have never seen a person who I knew for a fact was gay. Never in my life. I am sure some people are gay that I know, but I don't know they are gay. So I don't know any gay people. This is largely the fault of all the homophobes running around my school mindlessly using the word 'fag' and attacking people who they think might be gay.

Its not that I am in any rush to meet gay people. Its just its a social taboo (not in my eyes, but in others) to admitt your gay.

One important thing gays do for us is they prove that the pupose of a man isn't to serve a woman and the purpose of a woman isn't to serve a man. That goes agianst marriage and Christianity, but the lives of gays are protected under the constution, so it seems like people are instead of burning gays, discriminating agianst them, and tabooing their existance, not that this didn't occur in the past of course.

There is a clash of opinions in the world today. There is the patriachry, which outlaws gays, and then there is equality. Equality is bad for marriage, but necessary, and in some cases good.

I think that womens rights will come 100% after gay rights, because of Christianity. Gays are living proof that the purpose of the oppose sexes isn't to serve each other (as I said earlier), so once Christianity is proved wrong, womens rights is inevitable. Along with the fact that the majority of collage students are women today.

Green, I see that you're 15 years old. When I was 15, I didn't think I knew any gay people either. I knew that I was gay, but I didn't know anyone else gay until I was 17 years old and I spent lots and lots of time looking.

If you keep your eyes and your heart open, you will meet gay people sooner or later.

I only know one gay guy, and he is the biggest flamer I have ever met.:( .. I am still in high school though, so I am sure the time will come soon. On a side note, I know a couple bi/lesbian girls. It seems like it is more socially acceptable to be a lesbian, than a homosexual male.

Only close friends..I don't fit the steriotype gay guy, so only people I have told are aware of my orientation. It is better this way..

Wow, It was interesting to find this post because I was just having a conversation the other day about this. I came out at 15 to a world that reached out to me and shoved me into the gay community, my mother always had gay friends, as well as most of my friends so pretty much the seconed I said I was gay I Was introduced to 4928592485 Gay people and so anyway my point is I was always more curious to see what I would be like if I hadnt been shoved into the gay world being around gay people all the time

hey mushie, you're just over near newark, right? my buddy went to the osu campus there for his freshman year and i spent a lot of time out there chilling with him and met a lot of folks from there.

wow. only 25 miles out of my town can make a big difference! it seems to me that anyone with any type of "queer" leaning (whether bisexual, homosexual, transgender, whatever) would have a hard time living in that community and feeling like they're part of the whole.

when you're out of highschool, you should DEFINITELY come out to columbus. it's got one of the most thriving gay communities in the midwest. while still not considered "normal" by most of the surburban businessmen and such, you can at least live in peace and not be consistantly harassed all the time. from middleschool until now i've been constantly exposed to homosexuality and learned very early on its not bad or wierd or anything to even think twice about. it's a pretty open community considering we're in ohio. hell, its GOT to be better than newark!

do you come to columbus often? you should totally check out the short north, and this june you should hit up comfest and pridefest. good places and opportunities to meet new guys! plus if you're into dancing or anything theres plenty of clubs and such. i've only been to union station (no real desire to check out all the clubs, being straight and all) and its fun for a bit but it starts to wear pretty thin pretty fast.

our pride parade, pride fest, and comfest are all the same weekend and practically all the same event. its free, and you can do pretty much whatever you want and be pretty much whatever you want and no one will bother you about it. its not too uncommon for a few members from the forums to go to comfest. perhaps we could organize a meeting or something.

Yes, I live near newark. It is surprisingly pretty open to LGBT. But still not a place that I enjoy living. Columbus, specifically high street/short north is amazing. I usually make it over there once a week. I have also been to comfest, a couple of times. I love it, so much music, food, and booths to look at. However, I have never made it for the pride parades. Maybe this summer.
