i am doing a report and it has to be on either a fashion designer or fashion brand. the thing is, i need to be able to write about 2-3 pages on them. im just trying to get ideas for people becaue i dont want to do high fashion things whose clothing costs like 2,000 per jacket. does anyone know the girl from f-minus's clothing line? or any people who designed clothing for alot of hippies in the 60's. or anyone who made really funky clothing that was really original. we'll see what happeneds. any advice or choices? thank you! :)
    love and peace

In the 60's there weren't really designers who made clothes for hippies. I think the hippie look just sort of happened and then was copied by the fashion industry, but it was sort of grass roots, kids just wearing clothes at first.

From the 60's Mary Quant made some pretty funky clothes, she popularized the "london look"...and is probably one of the most famous designers from the time

Betsey Johnson is another designer with funky clothes, and she's still designing today and is pretty popular.

Emilio Pucci, he has the famous swirly totally 60's patterns, though he is high fashion.

As far as today's fashion goes, you can look at Imitation of Christ, started by Tara Subkoff, it used to be a really indie, edgy label, but has since become more mainstream, but it is refashioned vintage clothes. so they buy clothes from thrift stores, vintage shops, etc. and remake them into new clothes.

and heatherette is another great design house working today, they take their inspiration from the club kid scene of NYC (i.e. party monster) and they have some really fun clothes that would definitely be considered funky. though they are pretty high fashion (paris hilton has been in their shows) they still stay true to their roots, at fashion week in New York they had care bears on the runway.

vivienne westwood started the punk look in the 70's with zippers, pens, etc. and is an amazing designer, she's in gwen stefani's "rich girl" song (clean out vivienne westwood)

this is the guy who won project runway on bravo, he makes some pretty funky clothes

the design for bell bottoms derived from old workers pants. the bell shape of the pants helped to prevent dirt falling into the boots! :)
